Maybe I missed it but there doesn't seem to be a space where the reader is told the gender of the main character in the interactive stories. (those where you add the name of the main character) If you enter a female type name on the first page and then begin reading it could be a couple of threads into the story when you read "And Sarah's cock was freed from it's prison." To me that is a little jarring. Would it be possible to add a box for the author to set the gender of the main character, and have it appear on the title page?

I dont think you can

My understanding is that this forum is for site feeback so that the owner/moderator can work out the kinks in the website and make it more user friendly. I don't see why it would be an issue for them to add such a box to that page set up so the author could fill it in.;)

I was just thinking the same thing before I read this post, I wouldn't have thought it would be difficult to do either.

It says on the link you have to click before entering the story. The only setbacks are if you click links within the forums or elsewhere links directly to stories. I agree it is slightly irritating, but not so much as to complain in my opinion. But I understand you only strive to improve.

Hey All.

Just a thought but doesnt the start of stories tell you what tense they're written in and from which persective. Male or Female.

Hope I helped.

this is what I am talking about when I clicked on your link artican I get the title page of your story. The same things happens if you choose a story for the ratings page. It doesn't list what gender your main character is. I have to read through some of your story to find out. If I enter a name in the boxes on that title page that is female and your main character is male then when I read the story it makes no sense and I have to start over with a male name. That to me is a pain and I usually stop reading the story. It isn't the arthor's fault I lost interest. This could easily be solved by simply displaying the gender choice on the title page. And while I'm thinking about it, it would be a good thing to have what catagory the story is in listed there too.

I know that if you look through the catagories to choose a story to read then you get all of this info, however I rarely search through the catagories because most of them appeal to me so I choose from the new list or the ratings list by the title that grabs my eye.

Main character gender is a good idea.

I agree with Silk that there needs to be a definate way to determine the gender when you enter a name. Also, I would like to mention a lack of people taking advantage of the enter name thing. I think it really puts the reader in the story. I feel more stories need to use it. If the authors are not sure how, here is how... instead of writing Dick Johnson as the name use {FIRST_NAME} {LAST_NAME} and use that code throughout the story. And if the reader does not enter a name then automatically Chyoo uses the name Pat Smith. It's all good. I never realized this till now, but the name Pat works for either gender... that's cool.

I see what you mean, Silky. My solution to that was to simply give the choice right at the beginning of the story, so it didn't matter what name you put in, you could simply choose the gender that corresponds to you after entering your name. I admit there is no way to inform the reader beforehand that there is this choice and not every story offers this choice, so it's still hit or miss most of the time. At least this way my stories won't have this problem and I'll use this option for any future stories I make.

How about when creating a new story we use the Synopsis text field to state the gender of the main character, most people don't use this field anyway and I think it would solve this problem, would this work or have I overlooked something?

I think it would increase the complexities of the stories by a factor of n. You wouldn't be able to have someone say, "You're such a good looking man," incase they'd picked female.

You'd need a special code value for:
he / she
his / hers
him / her
man / woman
female / male
.. and everything gender specific, eg
gentleman / lady
king / queen

You couldn't even have someone say, "I want to suck your cock" because the interactive character could be female.

Hey, this is actually a good idea. The synopsis shows up on the ratings board, so why don't authors fill in what to expect there? The sex (male or female), genres involved (voyeur, S&M, fantasy, etc.). This would encourage people to look at these stories because they have a better idea of what to expect.

Good idea, Sad Man.
