The Intent:
The intent of these threads, I hoped would be a learning experience, primarily for people learning to write ( i.e. me, I just dropped out of the trees recently and found a yellow stick that one can use for other purposes besides scratching my ear or fishing for termites, one can make scribbly things that sometimes makes sense) poetry; but also as a vehicle for good writers to discover ways to improve their writing, a kind of workshop if you will.
I do not see it as a vanity thread, either for me (what do I get to show off, my ignorance?) or the writers.
Every writer sees the intro and has taken out the more effusive lines, and objected to the praise, and feels humbled. I do not know why, every writer is good, in some cases, better than “professional writers”, certainly more readable. All have the potential to be great. Some I consider to be revolutionary.
The Choices:
For the most part the choices where not mine, if they where they my choices, they where seconded, via correspondence with other writers. Who goes up next on the schedule is who I get the most agitation for, if they agree. Some did not agree.
I admit the circle is not large, but an opportunity was left for anyone in the original Interact thread to make suggestions, they did not, I suspect, for fear of offending anybody, by omission.
The Thanks:
tarablackwood22, who due to a lack of communication, and coordination on my part does not have an Interact number, she appears in a thread “Comments and Questions”
Interact 1 Tathagata
Interact 2 annaswirls
Interact 3 PatCarrington
Interact 4 Angeline
Interact 5 jd4george
By reading, I see, thank you again.
The Apology:
I have a list of recommendations, that I have not contacted, I apologize for not doing so, but there is a reason…
The Continuation:
After next week, I have pressing issues I have to attend to, and will not have the time to do #6 for awhile. I do hope to be back, but leave you with this piece of doggerel:

I smoke too much
Drink not enough
And pray to a god so mean
That the next time he jogs on by
To tread on me
He wipes his cleats clean

(dedicated to the anonymous 0 voter(s) that have wiped my “H”’s away, guess what, you can’t vote on this, or to paraphase Marshall McLuhan; You don’t like my poems, well I got others, you don’t like me, well there’ll be others)

RE: the mysterious disappearance of 'H' in red

One shouldn't always blame anonymous voters for rating your poems low. Sometimes, they are the 10th vote, that although their rating may lower your average score, it is the one that meets the requisite number of votes to give your poem the H.

Occassionally, the Literotica janitorial service goes through the files and looks for extra votes from a single IP address or even will go and delouse your scores of the obvious single low ball votes. With that said, did the average score on your poetry go up, even though you lost a couple of votes?

Mine did.
I lost 6 H ratings.
I'd rather have feedback.

two things

I see by another 2 threads, I may have been right, at least, now I know its not just me.
More important, than that, I am greatly pleased that someone I have been chasing has agreed to do an Interact thread. I hope to be able to get it up today, tommorrow at the latest.
This woman, I always knew was good, I had no realization of how good she is, until I pulled "After the Fall" apart. A little classic, excellent learning tool.

Damn, I look good in bold,
Please read the choice process
Anybody, feel free to PM me with choices (maybe I'll clean out the mailbox)
I have to start PMing the list I have for a line up.

I thank WickedEve greatly for taking the time to do Interact 6

And I am pleased to announce Interact 7 will be Maria 2394 and will be up as soon as I get my bugs worked out.

I am working through the list...
Interact will be Bi-weekly, but I am pleased to announce that Lauren Hyde and Liar will be doing #9 and #10

Oh Great Masters of Words, I lie prostrate to seek knowledge through the interacts... Any hopes to have the links to the other interacts instead of my hunting them down? Please?:(

I am sorry Gina, my technical inexperence, precluded me from doing this. This is one of the most rewarding posts regarding these.
Interact #10 is the last I am doing.
I wish to thank by name:
tarablacKwood22
Interact 1 Tathagata
Interact 2 annaswirls
Interact 3 PatCarrington
Interact 4 Angeline
Interact 5 jd4george
Interact 6 WickedEve
Interact 7 Maria 2394
Interact 9 Lauren Hynde
Interact 10 Liar
They deserve a big round of applause for voluntering their time in explaining their work, and putting up with my less than pleasantness. Pausing to thank HomerPindar also, because I stole one of your Quotes to Introduce #1.
I wish to thank everyone who participated, and to aplogise, because I may not have been the greatest Introducer.
In every case I have come away with a greater appreciation for the authors and their works. Some of this was helped along the way by other's comments.
Best Wishes to all and success in your writing for 2005, but may you never, ever be content with it.
I do wish you a general contentment with life though.
Thanks again,
1201

Any chance anyone out there has a collection of these threads? (going to look again, but fairly certain the earlier ones are long gone from Lit)

I'm a bit of a strange fellow, I enjoy talking about poetry as much or more than reading it. Something about seeing how others minds work, so anyone with these threads handy, much appreciated.

Oh, and happy to be quoted... um, most times. :D

I hope this will help Average Gina and any one else who finds these threads educational and iinformative. I hope 1201 is not gone from our forum but will be here - just not "interacting".

Thank you twelveoone. :rose:

I think the writers who particpated, like myself, probably learned the most. I know that 1201's questions caused me to think about my poem in ways I normally would not. Much of the way I construct a poem--at least initially--is done without dissecting what I'm doing.

First drafts, in my opinion, need to be written in um the "poem zone" without overanalyzing. Otherwise, it doesn't work--at least not for me. The interact thread on Nightingale made me recognize the "how" of that poem. (I *did* know the "why" before I even started writing it.) It was good insight for me as a writer. For that and the work he put into it, I very much appreciate 1201's effort. He did a good thing for us and for poetry.

:)

Joining the "thanks 1201" club. :) The interact threads, both mine and the others, taught me alot about writing and thinking poetry. And the latest one where I'm on the dissection table have forced me to put words on and specify very vauge ideas about my own writing, creating and even thinking process. He forced me to come up with explanations about how I reason and function that not only made sense to me, but made sense to others too, and I can boldly say that through that I grew as a poet.

It's been most edjamackating.

Bumping thread because it's worth a second look.

(I book marked it)

I just re-read through the annaswirls thread.

1201 really should charge by the hour.

Wonder if he can prescribe medication?

I learned so much by answeing his and questions from Pat and jd, tara and lostandfounder, I am not sure I ever thanked them-- THANK YOU.

And to Tess for bumping this bear up, putting up the links etc

~anna:heart:
