The wealthy man who, whilst serving his own self interest, employs a hundred men, or the poor man that donates a portion of his earnings to charity?

You need more information to be able to answer that question.

Does the employer pay his employees enough that they don't need the poor man's charity? Are the hundred men sweat-shop workers in some third world slum?

You can define any parameters.

The wealthy man that employ's the poor man gives the poor man income to give away. If the wealthy man gave all his money away he would not create jobs to allow workers to decide what to do with their money.

The poor man's donation might lead to the creation of a wealthy man. The wealthy man's company might employ a poor man who would then donate to charity who...

Next question.

Why do you ask and why are those two the options you arbitrarily choose?

I chose those two because the wealthy are often maligned, and the poor are celebrated. I don't think either group is inherently "bad".

The kindest of the two. I don't measure anyone by their monetary worth.

Kindness has nothing to do with impact, positive or negative. A wealthy man can do a thousand times more for society, simply by being greedy, than can a kinder man that makes far less. No man can become successful without his success spreading to others.

I disagree. That depends on your definition of "success", which in your case seems to be economic. That's not the case with me.

Depends on how the poor man " donates".. is this of his own will for moral reasons? Or is he forced to donate to a "charity" by his government?

The individual, for without him/her there can be no progress. It is the individual that does something, that creates(despite what obamaloney thinks). Without the individual there is nothing.

a persons worth to society is not measured in monetary terms.

how they improve peoples lives or in the case of Mother Theresa, their deaths.

Tesla changed the future of the world and he was not a wealthy man.

As a social corporatist, I believe both are necessary components of a healthy society. Just a body has many organs, composed of multiple cells, a social organism has many classes composed of multiple individuals. All must do their part for the organism to live and thrive.

"Free" trade between societies of non-comparable income levels is what mucks the whole equation up.
