Who would like to have one? Or two... or several?

Any subject, your choice. If I'm not fluent in it then I get to learn something new. More than one subject, conversation at a time is fine by me. Any number of people can play - all at once or tag team.

Let's talk.

Dill, what gives you the impression that intelligent conversation can be had at this place? :D

Hi dill, how's your day so far? SO? Kids?

Intelligent Conversation? I aint got none.

Dill...Your AV still scares the hell out of me and your signature line is so very very true.

lobito...Heard the new Neal Schon CD yet?

Ah now.. you're being sarcastic... I've seen some intelligent conversations here - once in a while - even been in a few. Though I will admit that most people try and pass of political mud-slinging as intelligent converesation, not quite what I had in mind.

My day - stressful, dude... very stress ful... seems I work 24x7...

Give me a sec - I'll change the AV - maybe that will help the conversation?

Who's Neal Schon?

Neal Schon... Started playing for Santana when he was 15. Then moved on to other things which includes starting Journey. He's an awesome guitar player.

I can converse intelligently on most subjects...

It's just coming up with subjects to converse upon where I'm weak..

LOL, no lilfrk, haven't, but I've got a gift certificate for 2 cd's, so maybe I'll get that one. I'm sure I'll like it though, I like anything by him or Jonathan Cain, of their solo stuff.

I notice Dillinger, that you seem quite studied in the ways of religions.

i was curious, have you any formal training, if so how long and of what.

and if its personal study, how long and of which.

which have you found the most mind boggling, and which the most simplistic, and which a fair evauluation of life

etc, etc, etc.

I just wondered...I read at the Journey BB that it got nominated for a grammy. My Man is itching to get it, maybe I'll surprise him and get it for him.

So, Dillinger,

what is on your agenda for tonight?

Where does your musical background originate from?

I studied music for many years.

Ah.. ok.. re: Shon...

Subjects for Intelligent Conversation... well now, that's the problem. Some of the subjects I'm most interested in - the threads tend to die quickly. And these days, with everyone and their mother starting a dozen threads at a time its the rare thread that isn't buried a dozen pages back within an hour or two.

Some of the conversations, as short as they may have been, that I've enjoyed the most revolved around Zen, philosophy or quantum mechanics... all of which, by the way, are just different methods for saying the same thing.

Hey - how come you get to keep your COCK avatar and I had to change mine? *grin*

No - no formal training. Personal interest and study - both through books and experience.

How long - I've always been interested in the subject but I guess I started seriously spending time learning about religion and philosophy and alternate belief systems when I was in graduate school and got turned on to the writings of Robert Anton Wilson. That would have been 15 or more years ago now.

The most mind boggling. Hmmm... that's tough - I'd say Zen for the incredible simplicity which is nearly impossible to understand unless you already understand... *grin*

The most simplistic. Any religion that creates a god in our own image. Too fucking easy. Just pandering to the masses.

A fair evaluation of life. Now that is really tough. I think I'm going to have to ask you to expound on that question... Define fair? Evaluation of life from my point of view, or the religion's, or the societal and cultural mores at the time the religion was created? Or what?

You know who he is then.

You really did change your AV. You didn't need to on my account.

I'm afraid the whole Zen thing is over my head. So this concludes my part of the intellegent conversation.

oh yeah gonna make me try and think here and act all smart and stuff, you know I can't pull that off ;)

anyways, fair as in old religion that in modern societal and culture mores still rings a bell of applicable whole truth .

did that make sense? probably not i came up with it

Hi MissTaken... *smile*

Tonight - taking a break from work for a bit and having some intelligent conversation here at Lit... then finishing up a project - then maybe some TV or Unreal Tournament.

Musically - I've been playing one instrument or another since I was pretty young. I have Master's degree in music from a well known school... I made my living in music (meager as it was) for a number of years before getting tired of being a starving musician... so nowadays I do it as a hobby.

And you?

Sure - why not - I don't want my avatar to keep anyone from feeling comfortable - at least at the moment... *weg*

Zen isn't over anyone's head. Zen just is...

For whatever reason that avatar just seems evil to me. But then again I'm weird.

Ah...that explains it all. It just is...ok then.

Oh I think you can pull it off if it pleases you to do so.

In fact - you did make sense. You're asking what religion still being practiced still rings true today...

Which is a very unfair question, you know. Because it really isn't any different then asking anyone - "what do you believe in." Because the bottom line is - if you practice any religion yet think it doesn't hold true then what the hell are you doing wasting your time?

I don't practice a religion, I study religion - I have beliefs... I believe that religion attempts to "describe the divine" (at least in part)... quantum physics attempts to define the universe... I think as time goes by that what each of those seemingly disparate disciplines is aiming for becomes more and more evidently the same thing.

We are trying to find our place in the universe. The place of the universe. The what. The why.

No religion and no science in practice today has the one ultimate truth. Some are a lot more outdated then others.

One thing in favor of science - science does tend to cast aside scientific disciplines that ultimately prove to be a dead end. Unfortunately people go on believing various religions that should have been cast aside, because they don't see that its a dead end.

Ok...Stupid question time. (And just for the record I know I'm way out of my league here but I'm going to ask anyway. Because you know, I'm not smart enough to keep my mouth shut.)

So if it just is, does that mean that things don't happen for a reason?

Oh and on a completely different subject/thread. Are you Sik Fuk that jerked off on his 14 old sister?

Things happen for a reason. Things don't happen for a reason. Things happen for no reason. Things don't happen for no reason. There is no reason. There are no things.

Huh? Of course not, why would you think that?

And you?

I started at age 8, and studied classical guitar. Moved on to saxophone (my master instrument) and dabbled after that. I majored in music at a local teaching college.

I sang with a chorus at Lincoln Center for the Statue of Lib gala many years ago! Maybe I met you there? *wink*

That makes it all so very clear. As clear as mud. There are no things?

That last part was just because I can. It was me being stupid, asking stupid questions. As only I can do. It just is...it's all very Zen. ( I think I should have slept instead of trying to have an intelligent conversation)
