ISO characters for a role play based on the concept that George Washington was appointed King, not elected President of what would have become the United States of America.

So, what is the current situation in the non-U.S., North America, and the World as a whole? Well, this is what I'm considering:
1. We begin with the idea that as the real world is today, the alternate world is as well.

2. I am going to come up with alternatives and put them in place. Some could very well have happened, while others are probably far fetched.

3. I want other writers to do the same.

4. What ideas do or do not get used...? Well, I have veto power -- it is my role play, after all -- but any ideas that sound feasible, or simply fun, I will put to a vote.

So, what's the "Goal" of the role play...? (Did you see that...? I shrugged my shoulders.) I don't really know. Maybe just to see how writers imagine how the world would have been different; maybe to act out a situation that is happening in the real world -- the war in Afghanistan, or the economic crisis in Europe, or the "China's taking over the world" situation ...

I just think it's a cool idea and I'd like to see is there's a role play here.

Occasionally, as I play around with this, I will pick an area and drop some thoughts. I would love some feedback, whether or not you want to participate in the role play or not. (But please, don't simply pepper my thread with a bunch of stupid comments; I seriously want to know serious thoughts, but I don't want this thread ruined with a bunch of childish replies. You wouldn't want me to do that to your ISO thread, right? :) )

Concerning the States:
1. Many borders would be exactly as they are today. (I will upload a map that we can manipulate borders on as we decide to do.) If writers have a compelling reason why a particular state wouldn't be the way it was, we will incorporate that reason.

2. There would likely be some changes due to the way slavery may or may not have played out differently. Under a more powerful monarch, would slavery have continued for a longer or shorter period? Would there have been a civil war if the States hadn't had the power they did? England -- if memory serves -- outlawed slavery before the US did, but was that reflected by the presence of a monarch or was it for other reasons? All good question that we can play with.

3. Another slavery note would be that without the need to balance Slave and Free States in Congress, certain states might not have been formed.

4. I'm going to go back and watch "How the States Got Their Shapes" -- a fantastic show available on Comcast Cable, btw, if you want to learn something about the history of the States -- and see what other influences may have changed the states boundaries.

5. How would the international borders -- with Canada, with Mexico/Spain, with Russia (concerning Alaska), etc. -- been different?

Those are just some thoughts.
