ROFLMAO...
*waiting so I can post some more silly one word responses*

I used to have ICQ, but finally deleted it when I couldn't stand the beeps and "ah oh"'s. Just MSN now (tamimartin87). Every other day I get another request for authorization by someone I think I don't know then it turns out to be someone from here :)

So, just having learned........

What IM is (thanks CB) and going to AOL (as CB directed) to sign up - I find.......

That this will eventually cost me $21.95 per month!!!!

I don't think so Tim!

You guys sell me. Why should I pay for this? What makes it so cool?

Remember I'm mostly on my office puter - only a little at home. I could have a problem with paying for a service I use mostly on my work computer.

All of this sparks my mind, I'm curious - how much monthly fee money do some of you sink into this form of communication? Seems to me you could go nuts - if you went cable, did IM, had a couple of pay for providers, and paid to let's say a couple of good porno sites and maybe through in a paid swinger's directory - well you could get right close to $300 per month!!!

Am I wrong here? Right now my company pays AOl so I can work from home. I pay nothing.

So tell me (about your expenses) and sell me as to why, if I paid for some of this stuff - if would so much improve my digi communication world.

Sparky, it's free...and a damn sight cheaper than the phone bill I'd have if I were calling just a couple of the people I IM with.
If you can type, it's just like talking on the phone...well, pretty damn close :)

Countess, MSN messenger service has the voice chat option now...the download and service is free.

<trying not to sound too excited!!!> and what sort of new hardware will I need for that?????? :p

a headset, unless there is a mic with your puter already...and speakers...

I'm not sure, but I would think you need a microphone and a pair of speakers. Oh, and I would suggest a headphone so that you don't get feedback or echos.

Well CB, did that but stuck again.....

You see - at home is where I use AOL. Not at work where I go out through our own server.

At home too - I've fucked up a bit - you see both the Shebabe and I pay (actually the company pays) for AOL. But when we first set it up (I was really clueless a year ago) I started using her AOL account, using her password and logon name - it was just easier at the time - less for my feeble mind to remember.

So even though I have an AOL account (at least I see it's being paid for on my Corporate AmX) I don't have a clue as to my user name or password which is one of the first things they ask you.

So, I've been meaning to get this straighened out - find out my AOL account info and start using what my company is paying for. Will do that and then check out the free AIM stuff.

Unless anyone has a better idea.
