Hey everyone, I just registered here and I'm a writer, but I have a hard time writing unless it comes from experience. Unfortunately, I haven't really had a sex life lately and my writing's really going downhill. Do you guys have any tips? What do you look to for inspiration?

Welcome to the Authors' hangout, dancer :)

I write a lot when I'm frustrated... I write very well with one hand shoved between my thighs ;)

sometimes i ask people if they'd like me to write a story for them and find out what others like and then i can let my imagination run wild. it's taken me to a lot of places that i have never been to before and although i can't write from experience, i can think up some pretty steamy scenarios.

otherwise you could write stories about what you'd like to happen in your life rather than what has already happened?

hope that helps?

I have a huge file of 19th Century newspaper articles of strange and wonderful people-events. Most of it defies conventional wisdom, but is marvelous.

Hello, and welcome to the AH. Have you tried the biscotti?

All of my writing has been done during dry spells, while my imagination is running wild from not getting any. My inspiration comes from the things that I see around me. The women dressed a little too provocatively in public, the naughty things I hear a young couple tell each other when they don't think anyone can hear them, a look that I see someone give me, or my mind just making shit up from nowhere.

A welcome  for the little newbie from the good little witch.

I have found the easiest way to get inspiration is to read someone else's story, that need not be erotic, and try to write it better.

Whether you can actually write a better story doesn't matter. Once you start writing your own words you are creating our own story.

Another way I get inspiration is to read a story or song title - just the title - and then try to think what sort of story I could write that could use that title.

For example, I'll take a couple of operetta titles:

Black Forest Girl (by Leon Jessel as Schwarzwaldmadel) - could be about a girl who'd do anything for Black Forest Gateau.

The Merry Wives of Windsor - Why are they merry? About what?

If you want erotic inspiration, then there are tens of thousands of stories on this site to give you ideas.

The Magic Flute

I have been thinking of rewriting the plot of Mozart's "The Magic Flute".

Of course, being Literotica, playing the Magic Flute has a different meaning from Mozart's librettist.

Pamina would be expert at it, as would her mother, The Queen of the Night.

Instead of Papageno's magic bells, he'd have magic balls...

Monostatos would be gay and want his magic flute played by Tamino or Papageno.

The survival of the ordeals would be achieved by Pamina and Tamino's expertise at Magic Flute playing.

Papageno would get his Papagena by proving to her that his oral skills have been developed to perfection by playing the panpipes.

Need I go on?

It would have to go in the Humor and Satire category. I could enjoy myself rewriting the arias with words more appropriate to Literotica.

PS. The three boys might have to be omitted/altered as being underage but as they are usually played by nubile women I'm sure I could find a role for them somewhere in the action.

There's also the thing called "plot bunny" where you keep reading the madness posted here until something strikes you as interesting. Then write about it. That happened the last two contests ago.

Or there is the other sort of "plot bunny" that authors include in their writing.

My plot bunnies are sheep and garderobes. They keep breeding and appearing in stories where they are inappropriate.

I have refrained from completing the story "The Sheep of Doom" in which one of the characters is trampled to death by a flock of sheep in a garderobe, but you never know what horrors I might inflict on unsuspecting readers in the Halloween Contest.

Most of the time my inspiration comes from music. I get stuck on certain albums and can write an entire story with those songs as themes for different scenes.

Other times, it can be porn, fashion magazines, the stuff I see on The History Channel...I'm always on the lookout for something inspiring. People watching is another activity that also seems to yield inspiration, as others have said. I think I probably draw some inspiration from everything, even like food and the weather. I can be standing barefoot at the kitchen sink, cutting up a watermelon and it will somehow inspire me to write something sexy. :)

Welcome to the AH. :D

Stroll through a mall, a department store, the park, downtown...anywhere people gather and observe them...create scenarios about them in your mind...jot down notes periodically...you'll have story material in no time...then add some sex. :D

What ISN'T sexy about feet and watermelon??

I just write when I'm in that kinda' mood. It's always nice to tell yourself you could be a better scriptwriter than most or all porn scriptwriters. It's also makes it easier (at least for me) when I inspire myself from emotions I'm feeling at that moment. That way you're (or I'm) more connected to the story I'm writing, making it feel more real.

Hi, Dancer, and welcome to Literotica and the AH. I get inspiration from a variety of places, and a lot of it comes from porno movies. There are many sites where you can download short pornographic video clips, and sometimes one of those, or a photo will give me an idea for a new twist to what is a pretty old story.

Also, if you hear some guy talking about his sexual conquests, you might take inspiration from that and, even if you strike out with a certain woman, you can write as if you hadn't, and what it would have been if you had been successful.

That's actually a pretty good idea, I hadn't thought of it...
