Hey all, I'm in the process of finding a local team here to work together creatively and grow as artists. But in the process I stumbled upon an interesting question.
What inspired YOU to be an artist?
I always knew I was a creative. I'm great with spreadsheets and databases and system programming, but I always felt like a zombie doing it. Early on, I found my love of music and over the years became quite the accomplishes guitarist. I never really thought of myself as a visual artist.
I'm sure we've all had that teacher who told us we weren't worth our weight in salt, that our creative process would not be fruitful. I guess I started to believe it and took that opinion on as fact.
My inspiration comes from my memories of the beautiful classical art I studied in AP Humanities in high school. The creamy rich colors that only inspire thoughts of soft supple skin being lightly caressed by a master painters brush. Chiseled marble so soft one would not be surprised if a sculpture stood up and walked away.
In photography, my inspiration comes from the many developmental years sneaking a late night softcore show like Red Shoe Diaries or Beverly Hills Bordello (I think that was the name of it anyway).
So, what keeps you going? Keeps you hungry for more... Keeps you pushing to be better despite the harsh criticism (self inflicted or other).
