Inserting a pic, not attaching

How do I insert a picture into my post without doing it as an attachment?? Can I insert something from my own files or does it have to be something from a website?

The image tags require a URL that is accessible all the time, and is not relative in nature -- requesting the same URL on diferent machines returns the same picture -- so unless you computer is hosting your own website, then IMG needs a picture that's on the web.

Well so far I have not gotten the answer as to whether I can use a picture off of my hard drive and insert it into a thread but...I did learn this

To insert an image into your post without usingthe attachment function just right click on a any picture you want from a web page, scroll down to properties and copy the url from the properties dialog box. After you do this it is simply a matter of pasting that url using the IMG feature in the VB code section of a post reply.

To add a pic to your sig line grab your url using the same method mentioned above and then in your usercp just type this is your sigline box

I would assume it needs to be a .jpg or.gif .....

That's the major difference between the IMG tag and HTML's "IMG SRC=" tag. The IMG tag requires an image -- a URL ending in JPG, GIF, BMP, etc. IMG can't use a script call to display an image.

The "IMG SRC=" tag in HTML (signatures) CAN use a script call like the URL to an attachment to a post or an avatar to display an image.
