Since my first time on Lit I have grown enormously, and not always just in relation to the lifestyle I have chosen to live. That being so I also know others have found it the same experience and thought perhaps some would like to share those who have made a noticeable impact on their lives in some form. It doesn't necessarily have to be someone you are friends with, agree with, or even fully understand (often is the opposite)...more people who have made you think and explore yourself or given you a new perspective through their sharing on this forum. I am hoping it will remain a positive themed thread and also not one to measure who is the best as the reality is there is no best...it is too subjective and based on incomplete and immeasureable qualities relational usually more to individual posters than the board as a whole.

Ones who come easily to mind in my half asleep state (and apart from the wonderful man working through the night here) are Netzach, Pure, Shadowsdream, ownedsubgal, Ebonyfire, AnelizeDarkEyes, Angelic Assassin, Desdemona, Soron, s'lara, DVS, and EKVITKAR. I am sure more will come to mind when I am more focused.

Once again, you make me think.

I don't normally do lists because I always end up leaving someone out. I've been here off and on since the old thread on the How To board, so there are many many people who have influenced me here. But I'm going to mention a few who have taught me or made me think. Some of them no longer post here and that's our loss. Cymbidia, RisiaSkye, WriterDom, EbonyFire, Shadowsdream, Cellis, ADR, JamesG5, Snoozebutton, Fungi, Willowpuss, ownedsubgal, Catalina_Fransisco, Kajira Callista... good lord, I could go on and on. I am still learning and thinking. There have been several thought provoking threads lately and while I haven't agreed with it all, I've enjoyed the mental stimulation and different perspectives. Even the stuff that pisses me off generally makes me more aware of my own take on this lifestyle.

For helping me learn and grow, I thank you all, both the ones I've listed as well as those I've missed.:rose:

Ideas and discussions have influenced me, but I can't say that any particular posters themselves have. I haven't really gotten to know anyone very well, so that may be a factor. It's interesting though, how differently people are influenced by others...there are some here that I get the impression are highly respected all around whom I can't imagine for the life of me WHY...and others who I don't think get the credit they deserve.

I do like this forum a lot, even though my attendence and attention here are sporadic at best. (kind of like my spelling...) I've been here since '02 and only have a couple hundred posts, LOL. It's rare to find a forum that holds my attentions that long, or where I don't get totally fed up with it and delete it from my favs. I'm hard to please. I'd make a good Dom *grin*

errr, ok, correction, I have more posts than I thought *scratches head*

LOL, I can identify with your dilemma Des....I didn't get to know Cym and Risia much firsthand due to timing and circumstances but when you scout the threads, they do come up again and again with good things to ponder and an honesty about their own humanness.

Ah you may have only a small number of posts, but it is often quality and not quantity which makes them memorable and I do remember many of yours as worth reading more than once and giving some consideration to.:)

...and is that Dom statement meant to tease us?!!Is there something we should know?

Catalina:rose:

I'm not going to mention any names, because then I'd worry that I offended someone by not mentioning them, etc, etc.

Suffice to say that the discussions on here HAVE been influential at times. Some with the "how to's" (training a woman to cum on command was so much fun!) Others with broadening my mind, encouraging my acceptance or even just learning more about myself.

All good stuff.

Don't pass up on the simple opportunity to make friends, meet new interesting people and just relax and hang out. That's valueable too.

(I do miss Eb.)

Well, I for one think you should be punished for blinding us all with horrid colour choices...

j/k

nah, I tried topping once. I failed miserably. I kept asking him if I was doing ok, until he got so exasperated he ended up spanking it out on me.

Although I do admit to being a tease :)

I have gained quite a lot from many of my interactions here. The person that you see on this board is the person who I truly am, so any impact that has been made through posts here has touched my life personally. Here (in alphabetical order) are just a few of the people I have learned from:

Catalina ... deezire1900 ... FungiUg ... graceanne
InnerDarkness ... James G 5 ... LarzMachine ... Laurel
MissTaken ... Netzach ... Never ... Noor
ownedsubgal ... rosco rathbone ... serijules ... sheath
Stuponfucious ... SubmissiveDove5 ... SweetErika ... WriterDom

I think every time I've been pissed off enough to go round more than once or elated enough to chime in or smiled and answered a PM that's what matters.

I could list posters I like. I could list posters I don't know whose posts I like. And I could list people who made me think or change my mind. I'm hard pressed to think of a lot of regulars who don't fit in those categories...maybe one delusional troll.

Every person I come in contact with or whose post(s) I have read impacts me--not necessarily great impacts, perhaps not even for more than briefly. There are very few that have influenced me, however. Some words are best taken with a grain of salt, others bear/bare the weight of the world. Some posters irritate the living bejeezus out of me. I could rant and rave and wreak havoc, but in general I prefer not to unless I have a bee in my bonnet or feel like being a bee in someone else's bonnet. I have learned much, not about life, but about people. Some is optimistic, some of it is disheartening. However, I have progressed.

There have been a few people along the way whose words not only gave me knowledge, but made me stop and think; whose wit made me smile, laugh, or or spew my soda onto the screen; and some whose actual presence was my pleasure to behold.

Some of them don't come here anymore.

Pity, that.

Catalina

Ezarc
Zaudika

Limbhugger

Netzach
ownedsubgal

and last but never least....

the person I never stop learning from, who never stops making me laugh, and who never lets me forget exactly who I am, what I am, and how much he loves me....JohnnyMayberry.

Among the many crazy threads about nothing in particular, there have also been many insightful discussions which helped me to expand my horizons and even made me conscious of some inner desires I might have repressed. I feel most every poster has contributed equally and in their own way, so it's impossible to name just a few in particular.

There are many who have impacted me, my way of thinking and my life.

However, I believe that the interaction on the forums (GB, as well) has been what has been most influential in terms of my growth and exploration. I have always felt there was a support system, an info network and when necessary, somewhere to just cut loose with kinky silliness.

My journey began here. To that end, I was very fortunate. I have met on line and off with many people who are exploring and have no place to feel anchored and safe with regard to this twisted journey.

Yes, I am fortunate to have been part of this community and want to thank everyone for how they have touched my life.

I have learnt so much from people at Lit that a list would include everyone (yes even bytor *sigh*)

But for thought provoking things Pure, S'lara, AA & RR can all drive my poor brain to distraction as i try to work through the philosophical and theoretical concepts. I know I am a masochist because I love reading those threads lol

For amusement & fun I have learnt from dolf, graceanne, snowy and technodivitis.

For those things I never thought of before or never understood I always look to Etoile and Ownedsubgal although for different reasons.

Everyone contributes something and most people throw in the unexpected post so they are all add to quite an odd melting pot at times lol

Of course if you add in those PYLs who I admire or scare me, or both; well how long have you got ;)

This thread is 19 months old... do you plan to update it, catalina? No one new in this entire length of time you'd like to add to your list of "influential" names?

Possibly, though at the moment I am not awake enough and have many other things to atttend to. As far as negativity of lists goes, I am sure many here will agree that we (you and I included ADR) have made hijack type comments on various thread or had them made towards us in appreciation of what we have said or done or who we are...to me I don't see that as being different in that people's objection to lists seem to be that it highlights someone or makes it public who we like, don't like, learn from etc.

I think the world is eaten up with negativitiy and it is far more accepted than giving back a little and saying to someone they made you think or had some positive influence on you or your thoughts, it seems people find it more difficut to say 'thanks' than 'get lost'...I try to create a little balance in this way both online and offline. It is open to others to do the same here instead of hijacking, or not, as the mood takes them, nothing sinister or devious, just appreciation for those who have affected our journey in some positive way, doesn't even have to be a friend...I often learn more from those who are not friends than those who are simply because friends are often people who think similar to ourselves, so do not always tend to challenge our thoughts as much as someone who is different and sparks us to think, look at a different angle etc.

Oh amen sister. And I'm not nor did I hijack your thread. Just asked a question after all this time that you didn't think someone had influenced you in the last 19 months, that's all.
