Documentary Channel, shown 03/17/09, originally shown 01/01/07, I took notes:

At campuses all across America, "The only good Republican is a Dead Republican" has been the dictum of Faculty Members and Administrators as a film crew visited dozens of college and University campuses over a period of years to make this film.

144 Liberal Democrat teachers and 10 Republicans is about par for the course in the 'diversity' of contemporary schools of higher education.

Pushing a liberal agenda even in the class room, some schools do not have a single Republican instructor on Campus, nor do they want any.

Students passing out flyers, campus young Republicans have been punished for spreading 'unpopular' opinions to the extend of forced counseling, suspension and being expelled for voicing their beliefs.

There was laughter when the researchers sought out the 'Men's Study Center', there was none; but always a 'Women's Study Center', both classes and organizations to study Women's role in society, but none for men. Men make up just 44 percent of the student body nation wide.

American flags are not permitted at many schools, the atmosphere is severely anti American, Anti Business. Left wing lecturers are sought after and highly paid, Ring wing speakers are boo'd off the stage. Military Recruiter's are forbidden or harassed and ROTC classes are no longer permitted.

~~~
Does that surprise me? No. And I have a full page of unused notes about the lack of intellectual and cultural diversity on modern American campuses from coast to coast. Maybe one close to you?
U. of Georgia Cal Poly Smith U. of Tennessee Stanford
Duke LeHigh UC Berkeley Bates Penn St. Yale
Columbia U. of Virginia San Francisco St. Central Conn. St.
Foothill College Los Altos Ca. DePaul NC State UNC Santa Cruz
There were more mentioned, can't read my own scribbles and missed some.
It is one thing to be a far left liberal on this forum, another thing to press political issues on college campuses across the country to the point where no opposing views are permitted. After all, it is education or is it really that the title says, Indoctrinate U.?
There was a song at the closing credits, "Shut Up and Teach!', any one wanna google or YouTube that? Anyone watch the program? Comments?
Amicus...
I'd love to comment, but it's late and certain things are requiring my attention. I would appreciate a raincheck, though, Ami.
Suffice to say that the program you watched, or at least your perception of it, was unnecessarily biased. I would do well to see it myself before responding in full.
Alas, I must hie me to bed.
Good night, friend. ;)
Goodnight, Slyc and thanks...I suppose 'biased' is correct and they did go looking for what they found. I do hope you and others have the opportunity to watch this, it is different than most you see concerning the state of education in the US.
Colleges are self-inflicting their own extinction. But then, most kids dont go to college to learn anything, they go to connect with the sub-species of banditti they want to join.
Add New Mexico State to the list and every University with a College of Education. That's where they indoctrinate the lower grade teachers.
Thank you...there is much more in that 90 minute program that I did not relate, it was long enough already.
Most appalling perhaps were anecdotal accounts by students who related that they got a dose of liberal politics in every classroom, during the instructors introduction at the beginning of each class and the inclusion of political references and justifications along the way.
Most evident were 'gender equality' and 'Global warming', and the attribution of all things wrong to evil capitalism and the 'American way of life', that exists at the expense of the rest of the world.
I suspect that 'on campus learning', is about to go the way of brick and mortar bookstores and be replaced with online correspondence courses to avoid the political content of liberal professors that saturate the schools at public expense.
Interesting, eh?
Had a history Prof in the Fall of 1980 try to get the class to agree that Marxism was the greatest thing ever. :eek:
I told him no chance and he said that described my chance of passing. :(
I went to the President of the University with 3 other Vets that were witnesses :D
Wonder if he believed the guy who bartended his welcome to the School party at age 15 :D
Pays to grow up on a campus, the Prof was worried when he announced that the President would sign off on all grades that semester :D
He did ask me about it at the end of the semester when I got the A I worked for. I told him to look at the Faculty list for the College of Ag and see if there were any familiar names who started teaching in Jan. 55 :D
Personal experiences do add to our accumulated knowledge, don't they?
I was at the Unversity of Hawaii in the 60's, taking an upper level Poly Sci class when the professor came into class and said, "Anybody who votes for Goldwater is an idiot!"
Well, of course I was and did, but I also had a talk radio program of which the professor, at that time, was unaware.
I hung him out to dry, crucified him in public and got my 'A', without ever attending another class...he was happy to oblige.
By that I mean to add to DP's 1980 experience with an even earlier one, to state, loud and clear, that the liberal, left wing dominance at University is not a new thing.
;)
My Mom taught 8th and 9th grade Home Ec for over 20 years, when she saw shere the NEA was headed she quit it in the mid 70's. She thought they made the Teamsters look honest.
Since the dawn of time the Rubes have guzzled Peruna in every flavor they make. When things get as nutty and violent as the first chapter of CELL, someone always comes along with common sense and a gun to restore civilization.
You may have heard about or remember the huge demonstrations etc. at the U of Cal in the Sixties. Later, a good many of the demonstraters said they were only there because their professors required it as part of their classes, and not going meant flunking. :mad:
Had an English teacher in 8th grade try to get everyone to send a post card to the NV delegates at the Paris peace talks in the spring of 70. Told her I might when my cousins got back alive. :D
She got in a lot of trouble, the Principle tried to back her and got his lights punched out by a farmer :D
