Together almost 20 years, both of us have had polyamorous secondary relationships. We've always encouraged each other to show the hall pass if needed. The last "other person" was 5 years back.
Over a year ago, she finished menopause and declared "no more sex; it hurts". Went to the doctor, and nothing they gave her helped. I suspect this is a common scenario for us ancients.
Finally she said, "If you are going to ever get laid again, you'll have find another partner. Let me know if I need to talk to her."
Tea & Sympathy, anyone?
