There's a thread on the next page covering mother/son pairing and why it is so popular. I suppose this is a reaction that.
Are there any other incestuous pairing other than mother/son that you enjoy or perhaps even enjoy more than mother/son?
I like mother/son myself but have an affinity to older sister/younger brother pairings. I supposed it's like mother/son in a way in that it's am older female from the immediate family but without the generational gap.
Unfortunately, other than Lovecraft's Lex Talionis series there's not a whole lot of older sister/younger brother pairings. When there are some, they are inevitably one-shot stories. Most of the brother/sister stories are of the older brother/younger sister variety.
Cousins are not much explored as well, I think. I think cousins are at the halfway point between immediate family and non-family. There's a cultural aspect as well, I would argue. If you're from a culture where there's more emphasis on the extended rather than just the nuclear family (Asian countries, Italy, Greece), you do grow up with and/or see a lot of your cousins to a point where they might actually stray to becoming like your brother and/or sister.
What do you think?
