Alright, I *know* I just read a story today...problem is, I can't find it again. My browser history got cleared, and there's simply no way to go back and find it via history. So here goes what I remember, let's see if the Lit community can help!
* Story's title most likely starts with S or T, but not a definite.
* Story was told from the POV of the step-father; can't remember if it was third-person or first-person.
* The step-father was going to adopt the daughter, but couldn't without approval of the birth father, who was holding out (I specifically remember a line discussing that the father was possibly holding out for compensation, which they were in talks with)
* The mother passed away when the daughter was relatively young, maybe eleven to thirteen.
* The step-father raised the daughter, in fear of protective services taking her away. Because of this, the normal tendencies of the family to be fairly care-free with clothing had to be shut down.
* The story picks up again after the daughter turns 18, basically telling her dad that now that she's an adult, they can both wear what they like.
* Late in the story (or late in the first chapter, if it's multiple sections), she got drunk (on wine?) and had to be helped out of clothing. I distinctly remember that the dad had expected to hear sounds of her using the bathroom, walked in, and saw her asleep on the toilet, and face either in or on her hands.
Whatever you can do to help would be much appreciated...if only at this point to stop the nagging sense of "I *know* it's out there!" Thanks!
