Incest: Either do it or don't

Some of the stories about incest that I've found here and on other web sites are fairly entertaining. However, if we're writing about incest here, why does every author find it necessary to excuse, or dilute, or disregard the very fact of incest itself? Some common methods of doing this include making Mom or Grandma the most beautiful woman in the world, or creating such a deep love between the characters that "even incest doesn't matter", or placing them in an isolated situation like a deserted island where they are left little choice but to commit incest. The list goes on, but I question the whole white-washing thing in general. Hey folks, if a kid wants to do it with his mommy or his auntie or vica versa, one of the primary motivations for that is going to be the perverse idea that it is wrong, socially inappropriate, illegal, nasty, embarrassing, shameful, and is indeed incest. That IS part of the turn-on. Seems kind of silly to evade that issue in a medium like this one that is provided for people to express their ideas (no matter how depraved) without reservation.

I'm interested in any and all commentaries you might have on this. Thank you.

I basically agree with you, here.

I wrote a story about incest between a brother and sister, and I agree about the whitewashing. I think the perversion is a big part of the story. I like to emphasize the point, as it increases the tension.

But perhaps for most people, the general sense of perversion is so strong that they still feel that they need to justify it in order to make the story more plausable. In real life, there are obviously no good reasons to commit incest. But in order to make the bad guy/girl more realistic; it stands to reason that you'd have to give them a motive--a self-justification.

Except for a few pure sociopaths, it seems to me that there is almost nobody that does something without some kind of internal justification. A con artist may say, "These idiots deserve everything that's coming to them because they are so stupid." A thief may say, "Society owes me because I grew up poor." A crack head might say "I'm not REALLY like this, but I can't help it, I'm addicted." I've heard that in prison, convicted felons feel that they are morally superior to child molesters. It's a sideways justification of their own mistakes: "At least I'm not as bad as THAT!", they might say.

Of COURSE incest is wrong. I'm don't think incest can ever be right. But in one sense, because the story involves someone else's relationship--even if fictional--I could argue that I might find some catharsis in the transference of supressed and taboo feelings to this pretend and fictional relationship, in the Freudian sense. Obviously, I'm not fantasizing about my own sister or brother, so I can more easily express my forbidden lusts with the more suitable targets of these fictional characters.

Ultimately, though, any justification is irrelevant. The main point of these FICTIONAL stories is entertainment, not truth.

One interesting point can be made, though. Literotica explicitly forbids even fictional stories about sexual acts including minors. I believe that this is for legal reasons. Nevertheless, it seems to be an acknowledgement of the potential power of these stories to influence people.

I'm ambivalent about the potential influence of fantasies on my real life. In general, though, I've found that my fantasies are ineffectual in creating any real change in my life--for worse, or for better. I was a virgin until I was in my mid-twenties--and that was certainly not for lack of fantasizing. For most fantasies, one needs to deliberately create the correct emotional and physical context required to live them--they rarely happen by accident. It's the conscious and deliberate violation of God's law that results in mortal sin.

I want to address this subject from the point of view of someone who enjoys reading incest stories. My preferences are daddy/daughter and mom/dad/kids (over 18 of course). Personally I have no desire to have any type of sex or intimacy with anyone I am related to but it is just a fantasy thing that is a turn on to me. It is something that I would never engage in.

I also enjoy reading about two women together and also enjoy watching that in porno movies but it doesn't mean I am going to act out on it. It is a fantasy and just that. I really believe that it would not be such a turn on if it was a reality to me. That is generally what fantasy is.

Every person has their own things that turn them on and what turns me on may not necessarily turn you on and in fact may totally be disgusting to you. Vise versa may also be true. It doesn't mean that either one of us is right or wrong. It is just personal preference.

While I agree that incest can be a horrible and damaging thing to some people if acted upon, as long as a crime is not committed and it is not physically, emotionally or mentally hurting anyone then it should be a person's own preference what they prefer to read or write.

Everyone also has a choice whether to read a story or click on to something else.

Since incest is so taboo, the stories I have written and the ones I like the best are the ones where the incest is done by mistake or thrust in the situation as it were. How the characters react to commiting such a taboo is what I find interesting. Many of the incest stories make the sex act too non-chalant and it doesn't seem realistic.

I'm a new Literotica author and wrote several incest stories "Things That Go 'Bump' In The Night" and "My Uncle's Wife And The Atom Bomb".
In case some don't get the 'Excuse' aspect of some of us incest writers, may I say; "Well excuuuuuuuse me"!
Please may those individuals go the library and check out ANY 'Psychology' book and do a tiny amount of research. THE AVGERAGE NORMAL PERSON may dream and/or fantacize about incest, yet not actually seek or take an agressive part in initiating incest.
Now, knowing or at least understanding that position, maybe the original criticism of the writer of this string will understand why some of us take the approach we do in writing our stories.
I love reading all incest stories so what's your problem in reading mine re: accidental incest? Eh?

I'm a straight dude who has fantacized about touching another guys penis, but I guarantee my literotica story (should I write one) will be erotic re: how it happens but won't have my character deliberatley seeking it and stuffing it down his mouth like a big mouth bass sucking down a tasty lure! While this is only my personal opinion, it might not be so much that they're making excuses as trying to explain why they're so attracted to their ______ (insert family member). While the taboo and sin is part of the excitement, there is still often the element of love and sexual interest in the story.

I do appreciate your view and agree with those who have a psychological problem re: the honest admission of having a fantasy about 'doing' a family member.

I don't have that problem! For me personally, it helps the story line and feeds the erotic fantasy when I conjure up a situation wherein an unexpected opportunity allows the fantasy to turn to reality.

I recently wrote an incest story titled "Things that go 'bump' in the night (Ch 1 &2). I would appreciate your opinion. Ch. 3 has been submitted and should be in the 'New' file in another day or two. I also wrote a shortie with the silly title of "My Uncle's Wife and the Atom Bomb"

From my own personal experience, I don't fantasize about anyone in my family. I like to read about other people's fantasies and all of the characters being ficticious. I have fantasized about people I have met and them having sex with members of their family though. Has anyone else experienced this? I would love to know.

I have never done the "daddy-little girl" thing with a lover because I have never had the pleasure of being with anyone that has had that type of fantasy. While my partners have been somewhat open sexually, there has never been anyone that I felt that totally comfortable with that I could totally open up this side of my fantasies with.

I have read L.A.W.'s work and yes have really enjoyed them. I hope to be able to write my own fantasy stories soon to post on Literotica.
