On June 2, 2020, 23-year-old Cole Carini walked into a local medical center with extreme injured to his body, including one missing hand and shrapnel wounds across his neck.

According to an affidavit, Cole Carini was inspired by notorious “incel” mass shooter Elliott Rodger who fantasized about blowing up a shopping mall and killing hot cheerleaders.

Cole showed up at Clinch Valley Medical with a missing hand, his other hand was also missing fingers, a shrapnel wound to the neck and throat. When asked by a local deputy chief, he said that his injuries were a result of a gardening accident.

Cole explained the scene to investigators, “blades were spinning so fast, it acted like a bomb.”
