The day broke like any other, Lidian moved through the forest, a tune humming softly from her lips. THe forest was quiet, and she knew she was safe, well she thought she knew she was safe. As she walked through the King's forest, her pale green dressed brushed the ground, her basket held tightly in her right hand. In the other was a small curved knife. She was a known healer in the town and that was the only reason she was allowed off the grounds alone.

Her black hair was covered by her cloak hood as her green eyes scanned the forest for the herbs she needed. She liked this alone time, so she moved slowly. Humming she almost skipped along the path, thats when a rough hand slipped around her waist and over her mouth.

Her screams echoed through the mid-day forest, and soon they were gone, dragging her away.

Draken

The portal closed just as quickly as it had opened leaving behind a single creature. The creature, having been sent to this time and place for a single purpose, was Draken C. Lastar; the Dragon - Human Hybrid of Llonda Forest in the Era of Aranathoxia. He was about 5'6" with tan leathery skin and Draconic wings protruding from his back with a wing span of about 10feet. Dark Green eyes and Oriental style cloth; a Gi and Tekko, was all that covered him. From his hands and feet were retractable claws and talons and tail of about 4 feet. From his neck hung a silver chain of which was tied a Black Dragon Fang, and around his waist was tied his Satchell in which he usually kept currency and artifacts.
He unusually looked unarmed, and carried with him no weapons. Aside from his form, he bore no markings or natural blemishes except for a circle of Black Drudic Elven Runes on the palm of his right hand.

<Lidian eh......sounds very, ecentric, for a human name. I bet she's just as ju....>
(Still your tounge....i've enough of your insessant blabbering. Now get out of my head.) Before the voice that echoed throughout drakens head could finish, he cut him off with thoughts of his own. "Besides, she's human. Nothing you could do to her from inside this body anyway." He said outloud to no one.
<Just wait, Lastar. Before you bet on your willpower, remember, your body can become MY body! So spare me the dramatics and concentrate on more important things, like finding the Human Lidian. I'm eager to see what she has to offer...hehe....>
"You'll not touch her Seth, or i swear if i can ever rid myself of you I'll kill you again." Draken shook his head and stood up, flexing his draconic muscle structure before taking off deeper into the woods. The girl was no where to be found, usually the portals drop him near or close to his target. This one must have been off course, that, or something even the powers that governed over Draken's Era happened that shouldnt have......

She had kicked and screamed to no avail. Her eyes were covered as her cloak hood fell over her eyes, and she could no longer fight as she was bound. Sounds not natural to the forest assulted her ears as she was brought into the camp. She knew they were men, all of them, she could feel it. She shuddered as she was manhandled and brought to the middle of the camp and made to kneel.

"Ahhh, what a tasty morsel.." came the greasy voice from the leader Lidian as knelt before. "Perhaps I may use her first...." his voice came out as his hand came out, pushing back her hood and caressing her face. "Mmmm, yes, put her in my tent. I will be there to take care of her shortly..." he laughed as Lidian spat in his face. "Mmm, feisty are we?" he growled as he wiped his face and slapped her with an open palm. "Maybe a little softening up is needed. 10 lashes on her bare hide, I want her naked and waiting in my bed ready to serve..." he smiled as she tried to break free once more but didn't suceed.

She was dragged in and her hands were tied above her head to a round wooden pole, as he clothes were cut off, leaving her naked and shaking, her body on display as she heard their laughs and the crack of the whip.

Found

Draken had almost reached the depths of the forest when some tracks on the ground caught his attention. Feet followed by what looked like drag marks, they had been dragging something, no doubt unwillfully, deeper into the forest. He took off again, his wings kicking up some dirt as he made towards the tracks.
As the sound and smells of a camp hit his senses he stopped and decided to take a path leading up to a ledge that hung just above the camp. He peered over the edge and found his target. The girl was hung, in the nude, by her hands on a pedistal and was being lashed by a whip. She had already taken 8 of them by the count of markings on her backside. Draken reached down for his satchell but stopped when the whip was withdrawn, her 10th lash having been taken. She hung there, still concious, her resolve much higher then Draken had expected, a look of anger on her face.
(Ok.....surely this band of human males will want their way with her......they wouldnt take her immediatly, she has to rest somewhere....) Draken was assessing the situation.
<You fool, they're not going to take her, they're going to let the leader have her to himself first. At least thats what any dominant male would want anyway, and if these 'theives' value thier lives and their job, then they'll set her up in his tent like commanded.>
(Since when do you know so much about how theives....)
<I am a chaos demon, Lastar, use your head. I'd give it 10 minutes tops before the leader shows up to take his prize, then the others will give her quite the fucking. No doubt deserving of a castle maid.....>
(Shut up, you've been enough help. And the next time i want your assistance, i'll ask for it!)
Draken climbed down from the cliff and proceeded behind the leaders tent. Once she was inside and the others had walked off, he sliced a tear through the backside with his claw and walked through the new door to greet his new, target.......

She had taken the lashes, and only cried out from the first one. From then on, she was silent, tears of anger and pain slid down her pale face. They laughed, and jeered. She would be strong, she would not dignify them with a response. She was moved into the leader's tent, and though she was alone, her mind was working hard to figure out a way out.

She heard the rip in the tent and her head popped up. She was knelt on the ground, her body shaking, betraying her anger and fear. Her hands were still bound together. She looked up at the man, immediately knowing he was not one of the men she had seen. "Do not touch me..." she snarled inching backwards as she tried not to fall flat on her freshly lashed backside.

Draken stopped and froze, not wanting her to make any sudden moves or noises. He folded his wings behind his back. "Lady Lidian, please do not fear me for i come to free you not harm you." He bowed to her. "I am Draken C. Lastar, and forgive me if we dont have the time for pleasantries but we really must be going before the leader shows up, I really dont feel like fighting off human mortals right now." Draken opened his right hand and extended a single claw, the Druidic Runes on his palm visible. "If you dont trust me, come over here and cut your bindings yourself on my claw, unless you can get out of those yourself Lady Lidian."

Lidian bit her lip as she looked up at him, his voice sounded almost comforting. With a wince of pain she stood and moved, her cheeks flushing with the realization she was naked before yet another total stranger. She turned her back to him, still on her knees as she was unable to pull herself up from her tied kneeling position.

"Do not make me regret this, I promise retribution will be swift if this is some kind of trick..." she whispered as she waited for him to slice her ropes.

Draken took two quick, silent swipes with his claws and cut both her wrist and ankle ties and held out his other free hand to help her up. She slowly got up herself, disregarding his hand, and wincing a bit at the lashes that he would try to attend to once they were out of here. Draken turned and opened up the whole he had left in the tent and walked out. He looked around but saw no signs of anyone. As he turned to leave the camp with Lidian she was grabbed by the leader.
"And where are you going with my prized catch, demihuman?"
"Release her, i've no time for games!"
"I doubt you could take me, and all my men with not but your claws. Give it up demihuman, you've lost before its even begun."
*Draken spun around and from the runes in the palm of his right hand emerged a Katana with a black blade. The handle landed in the palm of his hand and as he finished his spin, the thieve's hand that grasped Lidians arm found itself on the ground.*

Lidian had almost thought it was too good to be true as they began to make their way through the hole in the tent. She was becoming increasingly aware of her nakedness, but it couldn't be helped at the moment. She jumpped as she felt a hand on her arm, she jerked but the more she tried to pull away, the stronger the grip became.

As words were exchanged she saw a quick slice and the mans arm fall to the ground. She didn't even flinch but only pulled the cloak from the man before he bled all over it and wrapped it around herself. With a look around them and nodded to him. "Lets go, before his men wonder why he is gone.." she said softly as she held the cloak tight around her nakedness.

They hurried out of the camp as the leader fell to his knees howling in pain clutching his arm. Once they were far from the clearing but still moving he spoke. "I take it your used to this kind of thing Lady Lidian? Never seen anyone take seeing someones hand cut off like an every day thing......at least not in my era" he added. "Where are we going anyway? I'm not exactly what you would call.....native, to this area." Draken unsummoned the blade once the sounds of their persuers footsteps were from earshot

Lidian made sure the cloak was tight around her as they hurried from the camp. "I have seen many days of war good sir, slicing off his arm is nothing to me." she informed him as she took the lead through the forest, pulling them both deeper into it.The woods became more dense, thicker then before.

"Why did you come to my aid stranger?" she asked once they were farther off and her pace could slow considerably.

"That, Lady Lidian, is what I dont know. What i do know is that i was sent here to this er..... to this um, place, to find someone fitting your description. You also answered to your name, so you have to be the one i was sent here to find." Draken paused a moment. "You are soon to be involved in something very large and dangerous, and i've been sent here to safeguard you and help you with these events. You are des...." Draken stopped off again, not sure exactly how much he should spill.

Lidian stopped in mid stride. "What?" she asks, turning to him. "I don't know who you are, you saved me, and for that I will be forever grateful, but as for whatever else you are talking about, I have no idea. If you were sent by my father, then take me back to the manor...if not, please leave me be. I will go into the nearest town, find some clothing and be on my way back to my father's house."

She assured him as she shivered in the rather cool autumn air. "Now, be on your way. And thank you.." she said to him as she crossed her arms over her chest under the cloak.

"Lady Lidian, please forgive me but, that is something i cannot do willingly. My orders wont allow for it, and disobeying them can throw things....very off balance. Returning to your Manor, is not the best of ideas right now but if that is what you choose then i shall accompany you there. I cannot be held responsible for what you will find though......"
Draken closed his eyes as the sight of a battle he had been shown before departing flashed before his eyes. He could have stopped it, but his orders were to find Lidian to prevent the destraction from succeeding. If he had arrived where he should of, none of this would have happened.

Thats something that caught her attention. "What do you mean? What do you know about the Manor?" she asked her thoughts flying in a million directions. "How do you know? There was nothing wrong when I left the Manor this morning, that was only hours ago. We'll head back there, I need some kind of clothes, its getting cold out here. And perhaps my father could repay you for your kindness to his daughter."

She didn't even wait for his response, only turned and darted silently through the dense forest. She knew it like the back of her hand. Something was carried to her on the wind....the smell of smoke and....she couldn't place the second smell, something that was almost so familiar these days she couldn't place it.

She pushed on faster, not even feeling the cuts on her bare feet.

Draken listened to her words, but knew better. There would be no clothes, no father, no nothing. Only the debree of what had been a sneak attack on her fathers manor during the kidnaping. The very event Draken was sent to try and prevent. He spread his wings and took off staying behind Lidian as they jolted through the forest. The sounds of many footsteps once more played in Drakens ears, they were still there!
"Lidian watch out! 'Dragon Fang Pierce' " ! Draken touched his already summoned blade to the ground and from below the small unit of soldiers that had come from the side of them arose a blade similar in appearance to his own, but much larger and wider. The blade tore upwards through the soldiers bodies before dissapearing, leaving them in a heap on natures floor.
"They havn't left yet Lady Lidian, the ones who did this are nearby." He pointed to what was left of the manor and the surrounding buildings. "We need be cautious..."
He hadnt expected them to be this behind the projected timeline of events. The soldiers should have been gone by now, this entire era seemed unaffected by fate, because so far it had been wrong.....

As he had called after her, she hadn't stopped until she had seen the remains of the house she had grown up in. She had even seen him slice through the group of men as she fell to her knees. Her entire world crumbled in that moment as she only faintly heard the piles of flesh fall to the ground as silent tears slipped down her cheeks.

"Why?" she asked softly, her body shaking.

Draken unsummoned his Katana after the pile of men had crumpled to the floor and rusehd over to Lidian, finding her on her knees infront of what appeared to have been the manor.
"Forgive me..Lady Lidian...I tried to prevent this. I was sent here to prevent this, but you hold primary over all else; even my own well being. When my portal closed and you werent where i was told you should have been, things started going wrong...." He paused, only to give a sigh as he was about to break a code he had never broken before in his service to the Elder Druid.
"My name is Draken C. Lastar, and I am Draconic; a Dragon/human hybrid spawned from a human parent, and a dragon parent. I come from a world that exists beyond this one and cannot be explained for it doesnt belong in the normal time of things. I am sent into different eras, much like this one, to change the fate of particular people who's future holds higher purpose in the destiny of their world. That...is all the truth i have to give you, and you can believe me or not; but i am in no way your enemy."

Lidian knelt there, her hair falling around her face as she sobbed kneeling there. SHe heard everything Draken said but digested none of it. Her mind was still reeling and she couldn't try and understand it.

"Pl....please....I..." and with that she fell to the ground, passed out from shock. She fell onto her back, the cloak hardly draping over nakedness still as she lay there pale and motionless.

O.O! "Lidian!" Draken quickly knelt down and placed her head in his lap.
<Good going Lastar, you overloaded her brain. Now you've killed the only link to preserving the future o...>
(Shut the hell up. You know death does not effect me like it does most, i should have been dead myself years ago. I was trying to be honest with the girl, i dont know how to symphathize in the face of death......)
Draken reached into his satchell and pulled out a crystal clear container of what appeared to be light blue water. The container was long and shaped like a serpentine dragon. "Lazullii Water, havnt had to use any of you in quite some time...." Draken opened the container and poured a drop into her mouth, this would help nourish her, revitalize her body from any wear and tear, and heal any very minor wounds afflicted to her within the past 5hours.
"Now....i need to find someplace safe to take you untill you wake up.....unfortunatley i dont know this damn era yet."

<Surely they only destroyed the top half of this place. If it were my stronghold, i'd have to have some kind of lower underground levels, try and find some.>

Sure enough after clearing out a large chunk of the debree there was a spiral staircase leading down to who knows what. There he found a table with many vials and jars and potions and whatnot, what he had guessed to be a furnace or place for fire of some sort, and a makshift bed or cot. He laid Lidian down on the cot and sat on the floor infront of it and began to meditate untill she arose.....

Lidian was lost in her own mind. The darkness heavy over her as she fought the nightmares that overcame her. Screams and fires that would have overtaken the manor, the only home she had ever known. She woke with a start, shotting up in bed, her head pounding.

"Wha....what happened?" she asked softly as she curled up and pulled the cloak tight around her.

Draken, still in the same position he started in, opened his eyes slowly. With a sigh he spoke: "Lady Lidian, i dont know if you recognize this room or not, but this was under your fathers manor. If you take alook above ground, you will find nothing but ruins and the remains of whatever force or army attacked this place while you were being 'kidnapped' . The kidnapping was a destraction and in the normal timeline of your era, your very own royal guard leaves the manor in persuit of a tip given them about it. The manor now being defensless, this oposing force sweeps in and annihilates everyone and thing within the area." He pauses to let it digest before continuing.
"I was supposed to be sent here at the time just before you were taken and stop them, but for some reason i didnt arrive at the projected time, or place for that matter. Forgive me Lady Lidian, things were not supposed to happen this way with my arrival. Fate was supposed to be changed."
<At least she is still alive. Remember, Lastar, before everything including your own ass, she is to remain alive. Casualties of war Lastar, Casualties of war...>
Draken was silent, awaiting everything to be taken in and to hear some kind of response or question, Draken knew not where to go from here.

Lidian listened to him and shook her head as she looked around her. It was a long time before she spoke to him. "All you are telling me, it is something that is hard for me to believe. I...what you are saying is this all should have been prevented? Fate makes no errors Draken, I just don't know why I would be saved. I am no more important then the next person..." she sighed as she ran her hands through her hair.

" I suppose we should go? in case they come back. I would like to search whats left of the manor, perhaps find some sort of clothing against the cold." she suggested trying to smile at him.

"Fate, Lady Lidian, is a tool of Destiny. Destiny is the outcome of a chosen path, and Fate are those paths that effect it. My job, ties my fate to these particular people i interact with and thier fate. If the bad paths are prevented then Fate opens up another path and their ending destiny changes accordingly, which in turn, also effects mine. I dont expect you to understand it, as i Myself have never been able to graps the concept. I only do as instructed." He fell silent before turning to her again and standing up. "Yes, yes it would be a good idea to find you something more....appropriate. If you need time to....reflect.....i do have other things i can attend to."

"Yes," Lidian nodded as he spoke, dismissing his talk about Fate. She had her own ideas, and he was entitled to his. She pushed herself up and moved away from the bed. "I will go search for some clothes, it will give me time to reflect.." she nodded solemnly to him as she walked slowly up the stairs and out into the charred rubble of her once home.

"I can't believe this..." she breathed as she sifted through the ashes and derbis to find anything she could wear. What was left of her room was where she settled. It was there she found one almost not damaged dress. SHe pulled off the cloak and pulled on the crimson dress that only had singes around the bottom.

She sighed, still trying not to believe what was around her. She sat on the broken remains of her bed and looked up through the collapsed ceiling. The stars were out and she knew something big was going to happen, and her home being destroyed was just the beginning.
