In what category should I submit this?

I have a story about a guy and a girl who fuck while watching another guy and girl fucking.
Just vanilla sex, though the watchers didn't know each other before they started watching.

Should that be submitted as Erotic Couplings or as Exhibitionist & Voyeur?
Do the editors ever re-classify a story once it's been submitted?

Yes, the editor sometimes posts to a different category than requested--usually because it falls into one of the "trump" categories here. Sounds like your story could go in either of the categories you mention, although I don't think of voyeur as someone having sex with someone else while watching others having sex--in my mind a voyeur doesn't go beyond just taking care of themselves while they are in the voyeur mode.

It could be exhibitionist/voyeur or group. EC is an option, but that is used most often when there is no other place for a story.

It fits the exhibitionist side of V/E and EC is a catchall category

But I'm wondering if it couldn't go into group sex.

After all it is pretty much along the lines of a soft swing (at least one variation of it)

I sometimes think that the Exhibitionist & Voyeur category is somewhat underused. There are plenty of people out there who enjoy showing off. And probably even more who enjoy watching.

It's kind of soft E&V or soft Group Sex. It's not going to hit the core readership of either category.

Without reading it, I couldn't tell you for sure which would be the stronger connection, but my gut tells me E&V unless the two couples are talking to each other while they're doing the deed. That pushes it closer to group.

The degree of interaction between the couples also determines whether it's appropriate for EC by my criteria. If they're chatty, that pushes is out of the realm of 1on1, and thus out of EC to me.

The readership of EC isn't nearly that picky, though. It is a catch-all category, and they're used to all sorts of things showing up there.

If no, then EC.
If yes, then EV.
