In the time it took you to read this...

I'm glad I don't drive but maybe three times a week for a very short distance, less than 10 miles round trip.

I'm so glad that I drive in England where petrol's 1 pound per litre.

Wait a minute...

I keep bringing up the gas prices every time someone tells me I need to learn how to drive.

to extrapolate this inormation further........

4.5litres to one UKgal (US gallons are different, not sure by how much),
= £4.50 per gallon = $8.57 per UK gallon.

I think we lose, don't you??

i would agree except that you only have a very short distance to go to get much of anywhere. :p

Let's see...

1 liter of gas @ 11,24 SEK (lowest I could find)

1.00 USD = 7.14290 SEK
Means 1 liter of gas @ 1.5737 USD

1 US gallon = 3.7854118 liter
Means 1 US gallon of gas @ 5.957 USD

Darn, you won. Or lost.

I have 65 miles / day.

OTOH, I spend 64 of those miles in a comfy train seat going at 120 mph, at a third of the cost of driving.

it would be so wonderful if we had commuter trains but unless you live in the city theres pretty much nothing here.
bummah man.

It's been hovering around the same price here all summer. We've not had any sharp increases.

I wish I could do without the car but Houston has crapy public transport.
*sigh*

I just had the distinct pleasure of pricing moving trucks. At about 7-10 mpg, and with a 700+ mile trip, I'm looking at $300-400 (at least) just to pay for the gas for the truck! In fact, I may end up spending more on the gas than on the truck rental itself. Crazy!
