IC:
It was our regular monthly hooker sweep. We'd been doing it for as long as I'd been on the force. That made it almost ten years now.
It did nothing to deter trade.
We'd bust the girls. Theuy'd make bail. They'd be standing on the corner the next night. It was a game we play. We knew it and they knew it.
We got about fifteen girls tonight. They stood together smoking their cigarettes and chewing their gum. None of them looked scared. They looked bored.
There was an exception. One girl stood apart from the others, and she was actually trembling. I didn't recognize her. She was probably new to the life. She looked to be around nineteen or twenty -- a little old for this crowd. Pretty little white girl. Something told me she was new to the game.
She'd learn, though. Tonight I'd give her her first lesson. I pulled my supervisor aside and whispered a few words to him. He grinned at me and nodded.
Moments later she was in the back of my squad car and I was driving toward a parking garage I knew. It was nice and lonely. No one would bother us there.
