Ok, I got this idea from the 'random acts of kindness day' thread.

When I was in the hospital several nurses would come in just to visit with me because the other people on the floor were so unkind. The one that stuck out most firmly in my mind was the IV therapist (I have difficult veins). She came in to give me another IV, and I was joking with her and laughing. She stayed and visited for a few minutes, and ended up telling me that I was the first patient that day who'd been nice to her. The last room she'd been in she was yelled at for hurting the patient, the room before for waking them, etc.

I got to thinking about how under-thanked nurses and CNA's are. Because they have to do the unpleasant part of health care they are yelled at, pouted at, and people are down right rude and unkind to them. So here's a thread for noticing and thanking the under-thanked. Be it from the waitress to the nurse to the person who pumps your gas.

Not to mention they have to work for MD's.
:)

I personally would like to thank everyone in the vast network of retail who is dealing with unreal amounts of pressure and bullshit right now. Santa wears a nametag and she's there till 11 every night.

I am thankful for so many people:

The teachers that educated my kid.

The homeless that beg for money on my street corners. I always carry small bills, and when I give them the money as they sell their 'Homeless Voice' newspapers, I tell them to make sure they stay sober, stay warm, and always have kindness and light in their lives. They are always surprised. One of the things I notice is that I am thankful I can give them something and hope it improves their lives.

I am thankful for the many people that volunteer and work for me in my company. Without them, I would be so very lost and overwhelmed.

I am thankful for all the people around who do all the jobs in our community -- the gardeners, the folks who clean the streets, the custodians who clean our bathrooms, the zookeepers, the folks who clean the sides of highways, the taxi drivers, the folks who work in jobs that are less than desirable. Without them, our communities would be a mess.

I wish for everyone out there a peaceful and happy holiday season! Thanks Grace for a great thread!
