What an extreamly 1 hour dramtic monthly series. WOW. It really hit home and made me step back and view life a different way.
The news story that really touched me was about the teens.
"Let's Get Real" is a film on teens, grades 6 through 9. It brought soul shattering tears to my eyess to see these 12 to 16 year old Children torchered with issues and labeled for how they look, dress, act, haircuts, athletic standerds, ETC........... Kids today seem to be meaner than when I was growing up. Of course there was name calling and bullying, but not enough to cause highschool facuilty and student shootings or parent killings from troubled youth. *Tear* Their childhood is ripped away from them and they in turn learn to hate like those picking on them and calling them names.
These kids are faced everyday with constent name calling, labeling and bullying. Queer, fag, homo, your so gay (meant a lot of different ways), lesbian, dike, and a variety of other names are spouted off, whisped, yelled across the cafeteria or class. The episode last night shared some of these teens reactions. It really shows the affects of society, Politics, TV, Radio, Adult behavior, and yes, even the kid's parents have had on these troubled youth.
The anger and pain these teens is causing such turmoil within them. They contemplate suicide, random killings, turning to drugs and alcohol, sex, and many other child behavior problems due to hate. The intense feeling is felt more when viewed by the youth of today than my rant.
The other story is about the teens at a highschool in Chicago and their fight for a GSA. They and many Others ask you to participate in a Day Of Silence . Please share your reaction when opening this site and viewing the Hundreds of Schools
An uncontrolable feeling of union washed over me and the tears began to flow. What a relief to know these teens are banning together. Not as a segragated groups (straights and homosexuals against one another) but as one union fighting for the same cause. Stoping the hate and violence.
What these kids want most, is for the labeling to stop. Why persecute and label us. Just accept us for who we are.
Message recevied loud and clear.
I have decided I am not a lesbian, bi, dike, or any other label attached to the homosexual lifestyle.
I am just a lady in a very loving same sex relationship.
Life is more simple this way
