In health was the easy part, which is why if a partner took care of you when you were sick. It was a good sign, and Madira knew all about good signs. She was lucky she had a good track record as a premarital counseleor, because when you were good at your work no one looked into your personal life. She'd had bad luck in the past, or as she would tell a client she looked for bad luck when it came to men. Her own father was distant and had never stood up for her or been proud. So she'd fallen prey to nice guys who were unable to make an emotional commitment. She'd also chased off any guy who seemed genuinely interested in her.

Madira just left her office as the snow was begining to fall, the weather had been terrible all week and she'd cancelled most of her appointments. It was early afternoon and she did not feel like cooking as she was developing a incredibly painful sinus headache. They tended to happen when the temperature shifted, she had called her order in before leaving and was on her way to pick it up. The roads were slippery and cautious and crazy seem to be the way of other drivers.

She had taken two ibuprofen before leaving her office and was glad she wasn't experiencing any nausea with this migraine. The Chinese place was busy and she hated waiting for her order.

Michael Wu, the youngest son of the large Chinese family than ran this resturant arrived. Despite being from a very traditional conservative Chinese family, Michael was very Americanized.

He spotted the woman sitting alone at the table. He grabbed the notepad and walked over to her. "Ni haw, ma'am. I am Michael. I'll be your waiter today. Can I start you off with a drink?" he asked politely.
