As we reflect back on what this last year has been for each and everyone of us, I would like to share the following with you. It was sent to me by a friend after they spent two weeks at the World Trade Center. I truly would like to Thank whoever wrote it, but it appeared anonymously during the early days following September 11th. It brings a great source of comfort to me and I hope it does to you.

The Power of One

As the soot and dirt and ash rained down, we became one color.

As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building, we became one class.

As we lit candles of waiting and hope, we became one generation.

As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno, we became one gender.

As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength, we became one faith.

As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement, we spoke one language.

As we gave out blood in lines a mile long, we became one body.

As we mourned together the great loss, we became one soul.

As we retell with pride the sacrifice of heroes, we became one people.

We are...
One color
One class
One generation
One gender
One faith
One language
One body
One family
One soul
One people
We are the Power of One
We are United
We are America

A beautiful thought.
However, considering that citizens of 91 countries died, it would have been even more poignant if it ended with One World.

Thanks

Very simple, elemental work.........that hits me in the core of my being........first time I've seen it.........thanks.

I pity those who are incapable of accepting criticism and the fact that others just may not share your views. Such is life in a democracy.

LOL - just read your profile!

It's a beautiful sentiment that reflects a generously filtered reality. Or it's simply an expression of hope for what the author wishes.

But...

I have met Redwave who screamed in delight from the top of his sand-castles in Nevada.

We are only united in our dissension.

Cool

Believe me I not only can take criticism, I have to.........I'm married.I guess all I was trying to say to you.........in an unelitest sort of way, was that the person who wrote the piece was reflecting their feelings......................soooooooooo, I quess if you were collaberating, your "One World" would fit. Since you didn/t and aren't, why not go with the flow? Oh yeah, sorry for the criticism......it seemed to have missed its point.
