She just won the Golden Globe for "Something's Got To Give," a romantic comedy, as she put it in her acceptance speech, "about two people whose combined age is 125."

Hooray. Or, as we said back in pioneer days, "Huzzah."

In the 60s Anne Bancroft played the lecherous, cradle-robbing Mrs. Robinson opposite Dustin Hoffman - and she was only 5 years older than he was.

Who knew there would ever be a love story about a sexy 57 year old woman?

Or that Jack Nicholson would ever have an on-screen lover who isn't 30 years his junior?

:D

Aha! Sher - do you remember the thread discussion about censorship on TV & I stated that I didn't know if Robin Williams sang the correct words to Blame Canada, but if he did it would have been censored by the time it aired here? You pointed out, logically, that since I'm closer to CA it seemed less likely that there would be a delay in the airing of the Golden Globes. I just checked. They started an hour earlier for you than they did for me.

We get screwed here in AZ! Screwed!

Consider us a buffer zone.

Good point. If profanity aired on prime time television, there'd be heart attacks all over Sun City. Oh, the carnage it would wreak!

- Mindy, still pouting but feeling a bit better now :D

Would you sleep with Jack Nicholson, Perdita?

Mindy: Diane Keaton did manage to say s**t without a bleep. It was shocking.

Most heartfelt acceptance speech:

Bill Murray for "Lost In Translation," who said he wanted to thank everyone, "but there are so many people trying to take credit for this, I wouldn't know where to begin."

:D

I haven't seen it yet; I've been movie-free for several months now. But I love Jack, I'm proud of Keaton, and I think Perdita has a civic duty to sleep with Jack if he should request it. They both live in California, and he needs to be weaned away from anorexic girls young enough to be his daughters.

The guy hasn't done anything for me in years, I really don't like him 'cute' or over the top serious. You make a good point but I'm sure there are plenty of non-twiggy women in East L.A. or in the bleachers at Laker games.

Perdita

I don't follow the movies much, but the prejudice against
older women is one of their sillinesses I'm glad is
disappearing.
I wrote an erotic story once in which the protagonists were
a couple with grandchildren. Easier, of course, in print
than on-screen.

Dita, what ever happened to twiggy? last time I saw her on screen was a bit part in the Blues Brothers I think.

Colly, I don't really know but sometime in the past year or so I heard mention of her. I believe she works mostly abroad.

Perdita

I turned 58 yesterday and, IF I were ever so fortunate, would gladly be with Diane Keaton for as long as she'd have me...an hour, a night, a week or ????? on the floor, in bed, on a sofa, a phone booth, wherever!

Once? I've only ever written one story without older women in.

Hmm. Here's a thought. In Hollywood they can't be villains and they can't be old, so what do the starlets do for so called 'meaty' roles? (and if anyone makes any reference whatsoever to the term meaty being a euphamism for not being Callista Flockhart then they are very sad)

Lesley Hornby (Twiggy) does not work mostly abroad, she works mostly at home.

This is pure seduction. It's well known part of Nicholson's stock in trade is his reputation as one of Hollywood's most accomplished lovers. He even gave Warren Beatty a run for his money. If he finds out about this he has no choice but to make the seduction of Perdita his next major project. I think Perdita is just hoping A. Rickman sees this thread, calls up Jack and says: "Hey, thought you might like to know there's a sexy lady in San Fransisco issuing a challenge."

Hell Perdita, even I think J.N. is sexy. Jack Nicholson shows up with a dozen gardenias and a pack of Viagra and you'd say, "Get lost." Curiosity alone wouldn't make you invite him in for tea? Come, come my dear.
:p :D

Colly, according to her website she goes by Twiggy Lawson now and the latest news is an album that came out last summer.

Twiggy

England is abroad to me, Gauche (in fact it may as well be Mars).

Perdita

Gary, you've made me smile. I don't know what I'd do if I met Jack. He'd have to work on me though and I would not make it easy.

If it helps get Rickman's attention, well then...

Perdita
