He paced the floor nervously. He was drifting between arguing with himself and just pacing in stunned amazement at what he had done. He can't believe he actually called the number. Colin had always been the one to go to for whatever you needed in college, for sure. He could get you anything, but when he offered Mike a phone number to 'take care of you... get your head straight'... it took him awhile to realize exactly what Colin had just handed him.

To Mike's credit, it had been three days ago that he had gotten it, but all of a sudden, alone in his appartment at 10 at night, he found himself with the phone in his hand, and very soon, a woman asking about what he preferred, in an oddly soothing voice. She would be over any minute... but no! This was absurd, he could go out this very night and get a girl if he needed to... he couldn't peg the reason he had been so drawn to "calling out for one"... Maybe just the idea of the business of it all. No games, no pretence... But no, he picked up the phone to call back, to cancel this absurdity, just as the knock came at the door. Soft, firm, and repeated after he couldn't bring himself to open up... but when he did, what a sight!
