Damiana was a small girl, her figure slender as her mother's had been, a swanlike neck and long, slim arms and legs. She bore her mother's gentleness as well, the timidity that had won her now deceased mother her father's undying love.
High school had been a trial for the girl, though with her father's encouragement she graduated in the top 3% of her class, and was accepted into Dartmouth with a full scholarship.
She has come home for the holidays after a grueling first semester, her first time away from her father for any length of time, and is looking forward to a quiet holiday, and a chance to see her daddy again.
