The world teetered on the brink of war. However, peace was still alive, even if it was hanging on by a thread. 40-year-old United States Army Captain Aaron Foster was going to enjoy the time he had remaining before a war started. Even though he was army, Aaron loved the water. Often, the male traveled around the world, finding some water to search as well. His latest adventures had taken him to Greece, before sailing out into the Aegean Sea. No phone. No internet – it was nice to disconnect. The only communication medium he had was a radio inside the boat.
Unfortunately, it failed him. The weather was clear, but the clouds quickly covered the sky, bringing upon a torrid downpour of rain and lighting. Aaron had never seen something so brutal. His ship ended up crashing, seemingly in the middle of the water. The young man was tossed around, knocked out, and washed onto a shore. The first thing he remembered, when he woke up, was the face of a woman, more beautiful than he had ever seen before. She introduced herself as Diana, the Princess of the Amazons. When he asked for his location, she explained a place that he had not known to exist – one that sounded like a myth.
Over the next five days, they became close. He started to believe the esoteric things he had been hearing. He was he first man that she ever met, and their meeting closely resembled a story she had read before a goddess and a man falling in love, moving out into man’s world. The couple continued to grow closer, living in a cave as he recovered from the injuries, thanks to Diana. By the fifth day, he was fully healed. She asked about his life, too, so he tried to explain to her what he had experienced in life, how his life was, where he lived.
Finally, the Queen, her mother, found them and interrogated him. Even though he posed no threat, the Amazonians were worried about the man returning with an army, killing them all. He was sentenced to death, but the night of his execution ended with Diana breaking him out, stealing a boat, and finding the waters. They were finally crossing the border of her world, into man’s world, now letting the boat sail as they hunkered down for the night. He sat down, making a makeshift bed out of the blankets, surprised when Diana sat down beside him. “Thank you for doing this, Diana. I know you’re leaving the only place you’ve ever known as home.”
