the worse the American economy gets, and it's pretty dire right now, the more George talks about going to war.

At this rate you'll either be beaten, bankrupt or both...

You need to look up the meaning of the word "dire". Our economy hasn't been dire since 1930.

"dire

dire [ dr ] (comparative dir·er, superlative dir·est)
adjective

1. very bad: characterized by severe, serious, or desperate circumstances in dire need of food and clothing

2. threatening disaster: warning of a future disaster or serious consequences"

sounds right to me...

Wrong again, old sod.

Were you actually alive during the late seventies/early eighties? That was bad, but even then we were no where near dire.

Thank ya, Drubya!

Actually, in an odd way, I would like to thank George W. Bush. He is doing much more to prepare the way for revolution than I ever could . . .

Well, you're half-right. The odds of enough people listening to you to form a revolution is pretty slim.

You can't really blame him I suppose...

He's merely following the well trodden path of all inflated egotists, everywhere.

And for Problem Child's benefit...

"egotist

e·go·tist [ gtist, éggtist ] (plural e·go·tists)
noun

1. conceited person: somebody with an exaggerated sense of his or her self-importance, especially somebody who tends to speak or write about himself or herself all the time

2. selfish person: somebody who is selfish, self-absorbed, and self-centered"

Apparently...

RED_PP was not alive while Carter was in office.

PeePeeinPants Man

The US economy grew by 3.1% last quarter. Dire? Yeah right!

What did "Europe" grow by? Twents cents?

I saw a BBC Four documentary about Bush's campaign trail the other day. He said the same speech about a million times. And I also found it deeply amusing that at Republican Conferences the audience are given free baloney sandwiches. The irony bites - quite literally in this case, too.

Stout chap out.

Thanks peeps.

In order to learn more about yourself I would suggest you look up the definition of the words "boring", "blinkered", "alcoholic", "dimwitted", "dopey", and "eurocentric".

Learning is Fun-damental, old chap.

umm pp, ever heard of a natural cycle? All things ebb and flow, tides, relationships, water when you fart in your bathtub, and yes even economies. Are things great, nope, but are they as bad as some of the alarmist say, nope to that point also.

Getting back to the economy . . .

Trading insults proves nothing. Getting back to the economy, the late seventies and early eighties were bad, but nowhere near as bad as now. The difference is there's much more inequality now, and the "social safety net" (which wasn't all that great then) has been ripped to shreds.

and to raws carter comment, Presidents get way to much credit when things are great (See Clinton and Reagan) and way to much blame when things are not all rosy (see Bush the First and Carter).
