I managed to talk mum into buying a... what you call it? A piece of cloth, looking like a carpet, and you tie it between two trees, and you can lie on it and swing gently..?

Actually, Svenskaflicka, a proper Mayan hammock [the very best] is handwoven with a very large weave to cradle you in a web with lots of air circulation.

Nor do they always have to be tied between two trees. There are freestanding ones.

And yes, I like the mayan ones, I tried one that looked like a chair once - VERY comfortable! Only problem is, I have nowhere to hang 'em.
