Annie-

Each month, Laurel runs a program that determines which poems had the most votes and the highest score. Mods, feel free to correct my inaccuracies.

One poem, or 2, in case of a tie, may wind up being the highest scoring poem in that respective category.

At the end of the year, usually, all the results are in and the 4 highest scoring poem in each category go on to public voting. If your poem wins, you get a lovely little Icon beside your winning poem indicating that it was the highest scoring poem of the year. I think that is how it goes....anyway, you did win something, acknowledgment for your hard work!

Good luck!

To all of you :)

Yep. The poem(s) with 10 votes and more than has the highest score on the 15th of the month after it was first posted will be that month's nominee. At the end of the year there will be 12 (at least) nominees in each category. The 5 highest-rated of those 12 will be included in a poll to choose the winner of 2008 Readers' Choice Awards. The chosen poem will receive a little blue W icon on the listings, and its author will receive a prize, usually worth around $50, with an inscription celebrating the achievement!
