Well I decided to start a new project. I'm making some new kitchen cabinets for along one wall. (24 inches wide by four feet long. No drawers but shelved. Butcher Block type top.)

I moved the car out of the car port and set up my tools and got to work. It was a bit chilly at 48°F but I was out of the wind. Against the back wall i had placed my CD Player and stacked in a couple of discs. Santana led the lineup. I was having fun and relaxing into the work when the lady across the street came over to see what was going on.

We stood there talking and I offered her a cup of coffee from my thermos, She accepted. Soon after she left but was back within less than an hour. In her hands she held another cup of coffee. She admitted to liking the music. My wife came out to talk with our neighbor.

Before long her husband came over. My wife went inside and made a pot of coffe which she dumped into a thermos and carried back out. Carmen decided that the coffee needed something to go with it and came back with some sweets. Carmens Husband was getting into some of the music and we were all laughing and talking. The four of us standing around talking and drinking coffee got the attention of another neighbor so she came over with her husband. Now there were six of us.

That got the attention of others and soon the group of six had grown to eight then ten and more. An older couple came hobbling up and were welcomed. By this time the CD had changed to ZZ Top and Carmen asked me who that was. Someone turned up the music. More people showed up, more than a few of them with hot drinks. Someone showed up with a better sound system than mine and we plugged it into the power cord. By this time I lost count of the people there.

A good song came on and my wife caught my eye. She was having fun and enjoying herself. I have no idea who was singing or even in what language but the beat was good. We started dancing and before long others joined us. Food started appearing. It was a party at Cats Place.

My wife ran inside at my urgng and pulled out some foods from the freezer. These she dumped into a sink filled with hot water to defrost as I dragged the grill over to where we were having fun. Others saw this and went home for their grills. Before too long we had several grills going with all kinds of food. On mine I had cooking Jerked Pork kabobs. More people showed up and the music was turned up. People were showing up with food and beer. A dancing area was marked off half in the street and half under the parking area.

Man we ate and danced and had lot of fun. We had people there from the ages of eight to eighty. I danced with my wife and several others. (Including the wife of the old couple, man could she do a mean Polka.)

The Property Manager showed up and complained about a party being help without his being notified. He was told to piss off by more than a few people. The Police showed up and looked things over before leaving. (No doubt they were called by the Property Manger.)

The party ran from about 1000 and didn't end until the sun went down. I didn't get much done on my cabinets and I need to get two Propane tanks refilled but what the hell. Everyone seemed to have fun.

It's a plot bunny.

We need to hear more stories like this! :rose:

Assignment, for those who are willing; engineer an impromptu party sometime during the next two months-- winter is when we all need it most-- and report back on how it went.
