Samantha strolled down the long hall of the Life Sciences building, looking from door to door, searching for the classroom she needed. She had taken sciences classes before, but felt a bit lost in the new building that had finally opened after being under construction for the past year and a half. This was the last quarter the 22 year old needed of her prerequisite classes before she could finally start the nursing program and obtain her BSN.

To anyone who did not know her, who didn't know of her kind, she looked like a perfectly normal college girl. However, she had a secret... She was able to shift into wolves at will. Fur, wet nose, sharp teeth and all. Part of the reason she picked this school was because others like her went there as well; it gave her a pseudo pack away from home. A handful of students, a few professors, and some of the higher ups in the administration.

Having the blood of a wolf running through her veins made her a little more aggressive in nature, though some took that as her being insubordinate or rebellious. She didn't always listen, too stubborn at times to just go with the flow. On the other side of the coin, though, she enjoyed helping others, and found she excelled with anything medical. Which was why she wanted to be a nurse. And being part wolf made her determined, which helped her excel.

At the end of the hallway, there was a crowd of students waiting around, while a teacher unlocked the classroom door. It was the only room she hadn’t passed yet, so she figured that was the one she was looking for. The mass of people made their way slowly through the door into the science lab that was to serve as the classroom for the Anatomy class. She followed suit and made her way to a seat at one of the black table tops.

That was when she saw him. It felt like time slowed down and all the oxygen had left the room. All she could hear was her heart beating loudly in her ears, and everything else blurred in her vision except for him. The voice in the back of her mind reminded her to breathe and snapped her out of her stupor, which seemed to last forever. Sam forced herself to advert her eyes and take a deep breath as she cursed inwardly. She had imprinted. And he was not a werewolf.

Ian had been waiting patiently for the last ten minutes before the teacher finally arrived. At 20, he was smart enough to be taking more classes than most of his peers. At the rate he was going, he would be done with his bio-chemical engineering degree a year from now. It did help that his family had quite a few engineers in it and that math came fairly easy to all of them. With his fascination of science, he decided to break away from the norm and go into the bio-chem field.

He had been warned about the classes that interacted with the nursing programs. Due to their demand and competition, they were all viewed as being harder than they needed to be. That was part of why he had taken his time getting into this class. Luckily, he reminded himself that he just needed at least a 2.5 to pass and wouldn’t need to worry about any other classes like this.

As the professor showed up and apologized, he quickly made his way into the room and headed towards the back. The good thing was that the class looked like a bunch of nursing students, so he wouldn’t need to be worried about being called on too much. As he sat down, he opened his bag and pulled out the book that was required for the class along with a notebook. Though it wasn’t necessarily high tech, it was what he preferred and knew it would get the job done.

When he watched the rest of the class come in, he noticed Samantha. He didn’t think anything of it for a moment until he realized that she was still looking at him. He looked around dumbfounded as he was wondering if she was looking for someone else. Though he wasn’t scrawny or overweight, he didn’t usually see himself as someone who would be viewed as good looking, though he was curious as to what was going on. After he saw her close her eyes, he shrugged and started opening his book, wondering where they would start at.

Sam pulled her textbook and a notebook out as the teacher began, introducing himself and passing out several handouts. Syllabus, schedule of assignments and tests, a packet of study guides. Quickly the teacher went over his requirements and expectations of the class, and contact information and office hours if anyone ever had any questions or needed to speak with him.

Moving on, the professor jumped into the first chapter of the textbook, which was an overview of the basic anatomy of the human body. The 22 year old did her best to focus on the lecture, writing down anything and everything. She'd type it all up later once she got back to her dorm. In between jotting down her notes, she would steal glances at Ian, and quickly would advert her eyes when he caught her a few times.

Ian was glad that the professor was intent on starting the class off running after doing a quick overview of the syllabus. Like Samantha, he was writing down notes, highlighting things that seemed like they would be relevant in the course. Every now and then he would notice how intent most of the people were taking notes. No doubt this class had a lot of people in the nursing program. There were a few times that he caught the same girl looking at him. Did she know him? He wasn’t sure, though he thought he was good at remembering people.

As the class finished for the day, he closed up his notes and headed out towards the door. Out of nowhere, as he passed Samantha, he asked, “I’m sorry. I noticed you looking at me earlier in class and was wondering if you knew me?” There was the chance she would see it as a bad pickup line which would probably hurt his credibility. Though, he did remember that he was just in a room with a bunch of competitive nurses, so perhaps no one would really care. He looked at her as he awaited her response. He even began to think that if she was in the nursing program, they could possibly study together, though he wasn’t sure he was even in her league.

Sam packed her things away into her backpack and slung the bag over her shoulder once class had ended. She was very aware of Ian as he made his way towards the door, closer to her as she moved in the same direction. She brushed a strand of red hair behind her ear as he asked for her attention, and immediately her heart began to pound. All she wanted to do was touch him, taste his skin, learn every inch of his body...

"I... No, sorry..." She paused and urged herself to get it together. What was she going to say? She was staring because she was a werewolf and imprinted on him and he was her soul mate? That would go over well. "You look like someone I grew up with," she lied. Hopefully it was believable. "Sorry, I didn't mean to creep you out," she added with a nervous laugh.

Ian listened as Samantha mentioned that he looked like someone she knew from back home. “Hopefully that’s not a bad thing,” he said with his blue eyes looking at her. “I’m Ian, by the way,” he said as he tried to progress the conversation a little bit. “Are you taking this class for the nursing program?” Ian inquired as he waited for her response.

Ian had an hour between when this class ended and his next one began. He figured that part of this semester that he should work on his social circle.

She relaxed as he seemed to believe her fib. "Sam," she responded with a smile. She could forever get lost in those eyes of his. And the scent of him was intoxicating.

Sam reminded herself to stay present. "I am. Are you going for nursing too?" He didn't seem to be the nursing type... But she learned long ago to never judge a book by it's cover.

“Nice to meet you, Samantha,” he said politely. Though he heard her refer to herself as Sam, he figured he would at least earn her trust and respect before calling her by her nickname. There was no doubt that anyone passing by them would see a classic tale of two cities in the differences by them. While he wondered if she was in a sorority, or even ran one, with how lovely she looked, there was no doubt he was almost a polar opposite of that. He moved his dark brown hair back as he figured that while he was inevitably going to be getting friend-zoned, he would make the most of it with going down with somewhat of a fight.

“No, I’m working on my bio-chemical engineering degree,” he answered as he started to study her face. “Though, my next class isn’t for like another hour,” Ian added as he realized she never mentioned if it was a good or bad thing that he looked like someone else she knew, specifically grew up with. He began to think that it was a bit strange. “Would you like to get a snack with me at the dining hall? Maybe some coffee? Not that kind of coffee, the other kind. The kind you drink,” he inquired while stammering, though he expected the outcome to be the normal and predictable turn down.

The redhead gave him another smile, this one brighter and bigger. The stammering was cute and quite endearing. "Coffee sounds great."

The sun was high in the sky and warm as they walked along the path to the dinning hall, and she held onto the shoulder straps of her backpack to keep from fidgeting... Or touching him. "So what made you want to go with bio-chem engineering?"

Ian was surprised at the smile Samantha had given him. They continued to walk along the path. He thought it was a bit strange that she was holding onto both of the straps on her bag. “Do you need help?” he inquired while he felt the sun shining down on both of them.

He thought about what she had asked in regards to getting into bio-chem. “Well, my family has a lot of experience with engineering in general. And science has usually come more naturally to me, so why not play on my strengths, right?” he told her as they made their way to the shop. Once they got in he figured he would wait until after they ordered to find out what got her into nursing.

After Ian ordered a simple cappuccino, he watched as Samantha ordered. Before she could do anything, he had already pulled his card out and told the person to put it on his tab. They found a spot and sat down after a moment. “So, what got you into nursing?” Ian inquired, wanting to know more about her. He was surprised that she was still interested in hanging out with him, though he wasn’t going to complain.

She simply shook her head ag his question of her needing help with her bag. What was she going to say, that she needed to hold the straps so she wouldn't jump him? She nodded in understanding as he explained why he chose his major. "Makes sense."

Sam ordered a Chai latte and before she could even attempt to pull some cash out for her drink, Ian had already paid." Tha k you."

She sat with him, setting her bag down on the ground at her feet. After taking a sip of the warm drink, she answered, "I like helping people. And the summer after I graduated I did an EMT program for the hell of it, and discovered I really liked the medical field. So now here I am."

Ian listened as they sat down as to why she was going into nursing. “That’s good and very noble of you,” he replied as he took a sip of his coffee. “I can only imagine the competition that you have in your program,” Ian added as he continued to look over Samantha. “So, do you live in the dorms, or are you in a sorority?” he inquired out of curiosity.

As he waited for a response, he moved one of his hands over to hers, gently holding it. “In all fairness,” he began to say, “I should be thanking you. I wasn’t expecting you to actually agree to join me.” Ian was curious as to if he would possibly get a chance to go on a date with her. He figured he would wait until they knew each other better before trying to see if that would happen. Ian gave Samantha a warm, gentle smile, trying to make sure she wasn’t freaked out about him holding her hand.

Sam's heart pounded and she felt like all the oxygen was gone again when he held her hand. Was he starting to feel it too? She'd heard how both individuals would start to feel a pull to each other when an imprinting happened. She hadn't heard how it affected non-were's, though.

"I'm part of Kappa Nu," she answered, pulling herself back out of the fog once more, referring to the coed fraternity. Many thought the fraternity was picky and slightly elite, but the truth was most were denied unless they were a werewolf themselves or an ally, such as a best friend or significant other.

Without thinking, she moved her hand to lace her fingers between his. "What about you??

Ian was surprised when he heard that Samantha was in Kappa Nu. It was one of the few, yet the oldest, coed Greek houses in existence. He was flabbergasted at the fact that she was showing so much interest in him. He was curious as to what she saw in him. He didn’t think about it as he felt her fingers entwine with his.

“I’m staying in Wilmington Hall, nothing special,” he said as he tried to imagine what a normal room in Kappa Nu looked like. It wouldn’t surprise him if she had her own room unlike Ian who has a roommate. “It’s not a bad place, though; I’d prefer not to have one.” He leaned forward a little bit as they continued to talk.

Close to half an hour passed before Ian looked at the time on his phone. He realized that he would have to leave in a few minutes. “I know I’ll see you in class. Maybe a bit before, or after,” Ian began to say without trying to sound too desperate. “Any way I would be able to get your number?” he inquired while trying to be somewhat smooth.

"Yeah, sure. Can I see your phone?" reluctantly she let go of his hand and typed in her number and saved it under her name, before sending herself a text from his phone. She saved his number in her own cell phone and gave him a smile.

"Let me know if you ever want to come over and study," she said as she stood and picked up her bag. "Or hang out. Or whatever." She hated feeling so awkward.

Ian could hardly believe his luck that he had today. In less than a day, he was hanging out with quite possibly the most gorgeous girl he has seen on campus, aside from her being in his class, and he already had her number. And she was in Kappa Nu on top of that. He was wondering what could happen today that would put this over his head. About the only thing that came to mind was the same thing that came to any 20 year old hanging out with a dream girl like Samantha: sex. He had realized that, at the beginning of the day, something like that would never happen. Now, he wasn’t so sure. Ian knew when to push his luck and when not to, so he figured he would probably text her after his last class, thank her for hanging out with him and see where things went from there.

Once he got his phone back, he decided to be a bit more brazen than he would’ve even imagined himself being. “Mind if I get a photo of you so I have a pretty face to go with your name when we talk, Samantha?” he asked while still trying to be polite. Even though his luck was going well today, he figured he should still be showing the respect that she deserved. He had heard rumors that people in Kappa Nu could make or break reputations based on how others were treated. That, Ian thought, was the last thing that he wanted on his mind.

Just as reluctantly as Samantha was to let go of his hand, he was just as reluctant to get up and head to his class. “Care to walk with me since the way to your place is somewhat on the way to mine?” he offered as he imagined she probably didn’t want their time to end as quickly as it was for the day. Ian offered to hold her hand as she stood up all the while wondering what the “or whatever” part of her offer meant exactly.

"You can call me Sam. I half feel like I'm getting in trouble when people call me Samantha," she told him with a slight laugh. She gladly took his hand when offered and felt the jolt of electricity go up her arm again. She walked with him, not really wanting to tell him her next class was actually in the opposite direction. "Do you want me to send you a picture, or do you want to take one?"

“OK, I’ll try…Sam,” Ian began to say as they took their time heading over in the direction of his next class and her coed Greek house. “But, I’m not going to make any promises, or say that I’ll have it nailed down in like 2 hours,” he added with a slight grin. Once they finally got to the break in their paths, he stopped for a moment.

“As far as the picture goes,” he said while thinking on how much he should try to press his luck, “What if I take it, later tonight when you’re not busy? You know, whenever, as you said earlier. And maybe it could be more adult-ish…?” he said trying to fumble around not sounding like a pervert, but not wanting to be too blunt as well. Before he allowed Sam to answer, he leaned down and kissed her gently on the lips. It wasn’t anything too crazy, just a small peck. He figured, since his luck was going pretty well today, to take the opportunity. If he got slapped for it, then it would’ve been worth it.

More adult-ish? His lips were on hers before she could say anything or question him, though they were gone just as soon. "We'll see," she teased him gently with a smirk. She gave in to the urge and gave him another kiss, lingering a bit longer than he did. "See you later."

She left him and booked it back across campus to make it to her class. Sam would have liked nothing more than to skip and drag him back to her room for some adult-ish things... But the rational voice in her head was still loud enough to remind her that was probably not a good idea on the first day of the quarter.

Ian was a bit surprised that she didn’t shoot down the idea right on the spot. He was also surprised when she leaned back in and gave him another kiss, this one longer than the one he gave. He couldn’t believe the day that he was having; it seemed that nothing could go wrong. “I’ll text you later,” he said as he headed to his next class.

The rest of the day went by with being fairly uneventful. As he worked on meeting new people, he realized that he had just put Sam on a pedestal of being close to impossible of measuring up to. He didn’t know if it was because she was in Kappa Nu, the fact that she was so into him almost immediately, or what else. It did puzzle him a bit, but he still managed to talk to a few others, not wanting to leave it to where he would be completely screwed if things didn’t work out with Sam.

As he left his final class and had a light dinner, he headed back to his dorm and put everything away. When he pulled out his phone, he sent Sam a text. “Just got done with classes for the night. Mind if I swing by?” It took a bit of time before he got a response, or rather noticed it, since he felt like getting cleaned up.

It was all she could do to focus in her psychology class. Why did she have to imprint now? This quarter was the deciding factor on if she got into the nursing program, and school was only going to get harder. Now she had him to deal with... Did he wonder why everything was moving so fast? Was he feeling the draw?

Sam was sitting in her room attempting to study when her phone buzzed. She couldn't help but smile when she opened it. She responded with the address, though she was sure he already knew where the house was, before hopping up to check her makeup and tame her hair. She tidied her room, tossing dirty clothes into her hamper, putting papers away, making the bed... Her room was small, so she didn't have much that could be out of place to begin with.

Ian knew exactly where the house was. It was probably treated more of a landmark than the rest of the college itself. He was glad that he got the text with the address. He replied back with saying he’d be there in about 30 minutes. Hopefully the people at the house were just as nice as Sam was. As he finished sorting his mess, he made sure he had everything laid out for what he would need for tomorrow’s classes. With the quick mess being sorted out, he headed out and made his way to the Kappa Nu house.

On the way he realized that the campus was fairly quiet aside from a few groups of people wandering around. “Hmmm,” he thought to himself, “I wonder if this is common.” There wasn’t a huge incentive for him to be out at night when classes were done, especially when he still had class the next day. He didn’t remember the last time he did something like this, though he was starting to realize it wasn’t as normal for him as he thought. The other thing that seemed strange was the fact that the college had more of a nature-based feel to it with most of the students gone for the night.

A little bit later than he cared for, he arrived at the same house that was on every tour to every potential student, even during orientation. There was no doubt that the house was well financed for how big it was. Ian began to think of how many people were in there, though he wasn’t completely sure. As he approached the front door, he knocked on it. A moment later a man opened the door. The first response wasn’t what he was expecting. “Sorry, we’re not interested in any new pledges,” he had told Ian.

“I’m not interested in being a pledge,” he replied politely, “I’m here to see Samantha.” After Ian said that the man simply replied with an oh and told him to wait for a moment.

After what felt like an eternity, the man came back and told Ian to come in. Once he was inside, he was still shocked, though he didn’t know why, at how much space and room the house had. “This way,” the man told him as he began to walk. He walked with the man until he got to the room. Once there, Ian thanked the man and knocked on the door, waiting and anticipating to see Sam again.

Sam nearly jumped out of her skin when there was a knock at her door. "Someone is here to see you?" a voice called through. The wood. The voice belonged to Jason, the Alpha of the pseudo pack, President of Kappa Nu. She hated how light on his feet he was, you could never hear him in the house, all the were's had to rely on smell to track him

She opened the door to talk to him and couldn't get a word out. "Oh, you imprinted on the poor guy." Jason gave her a knowing look and smile. "I'll go get him for you."

It seemed like it took ages for him to come back with Ian. She took a moment to open the door, not wanting to seem like she was standing right there. Even though she was.

"Hi!" She greeted him with a smile. "Welcome to my tiny humble abode." Sam let him in and plopped down on her bed. "How was the rest of your day?"

“Hi!” Ian said back as he looked at Sam, just standing there. As he heard her mention that the room was her humble little abode, he looked around a little bit as he stepped into the room. “This room has to be like 50% bigger than my dorm room,” Ian said in a sense of amazement. His time living in dorm rooms made him think of how happy he will be when he’s out of college with his own place. He would’ve killed to have this much privacy, as it was.

“So, what’s up with the greeting at the door?” Ian inquired as he sat down on the end of the bed. “I did some research on Kappa Nu and found out it’s one of a few coed Greek houses, yet all of yours are technically off of the school’s property by like 30 feet or so. Sorry, I’m a numbers guy,” he said as he realized his face was probably turning beat red while sounding very nerdy.

Ian was still trying to figure out how he managed to get here from the beginning of the day. He wasn’t bad looking, though he knew there were a lot more masculine individuals who he imagined Sam would be better suited for. “The rest of my day was good. And yours?” he inquired as he snapped back into reality.

"That's just Jason. He's the president of our chapter," she said with a shrug. "He's always like that." Samantha gave him a curious look as he mentioned the distance off the campus. He had to have been doing a lot of digging to find that information. "Is it really?" she played dumb. She knew all the Kappa Nu houses across the country were off college property, though she never really got the full story as to why.

"The rest of the day was alright." The redhead plucked at a loose thread on the bedspread absently. "Better now that you're here."
