My most recent story didn't do as well as I'd hoped and I'm not sure why.

It's a story about an impulsive one-night-stand that results in pregnancy. Its time frame runs from the act of conception, to well into Marcy's third trimester; but told from Paul's (the father's) point of view.

It follows Paul's emotional journey as he processes his unexpected fling with his friend, then learns about her being pregnant, then watches as her belly continues to expand with his child.

It's very much a story that dwells upon the eroticism of inseminating, and subsequently impregnating a woman.

I'm not sure if the lukewarm response is because it's too plot-heavy for Literotica; because readers are turned off by the pregnancy focus; because all the bumping & grinding is over and done with early on, leaving the story feeling like it's 90% epilogue; or because it just plain sucks.

I haven't read your story. It doesn't sound like my kind of thing, so my comments aren't likely to be what you need.

Nobody's stories are doing very well right now. I don't know why that is, but story ratings are down all across the board, and I doubt the overall quality of the stories suddenly changed that much.

You probably shouldn't blame yourself if the story isn't doing as well as you hoped.

I just read it, and I found the premise interesting, and all the 'epilogue' (your words) heading in an interesting direction. Then you opted for the cliffhanger, an END without an actual ending and it felt like all that epilogue was for nothing. If you were going to end it that way, you could have stopped when he got out of her car with essentially the same effect.

Other than that, I had a minor issue with dialogue formatting making 'who said what again?' issues arise at times, but that happens a lot elsewhere as well.

I AM a fan of impregnation stories, but I think there a few reasons why you might not have had the response you wanted:

category- it is not clear why this is in Celebrities and Fan Fiction. Maybe I missed the identifying reference, but then so might a lot of readers. It might have done better in Fetish.

length- at five pages, it needs to really hold the reader to gave them reach the end, which is where they vote and comment.

dialogue- maybe just a pet peeve of mine, but I find that dialogue driven stories re a lot easier to read and more cinematic. You have a lot of blocks of text that tell rather than show.

format- definitely a pet peeve of mine rather than a universal truth, but I personally find switching fonts and the use of italics breaks my focus and makes me want to move on to the next story.

4.61 is an excellent score, nothing to be sad about.

I'll try to give this a read when I can, but I will say beforehand, I have no idea who Paul and Marcy are... Are they original characters? If so, then "Celebrities and Fan-Fiction" is the wrong category.

If they are Celebrities or if this is a fan fiction, then it is customary (and well advised) to put their full names/the name of the original work in the tags.

[EDIT: I've been notified that "Cabin Fever" is the Original Story to which this story is a fan-work. I thought the "cabin fever" tag was referencing the CONCEPT of cabin fever. My bad.

I did see a movie about a similar topic once. I think it starred Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl. Knocked Up was the title. Cool film.
