important reminder to lit members

Everyone needs to remember to be aware that many people off the board do not want their private information cast for the public eye to see.

Be careful when you use a person's first name. Many people do not want the general Lit population to know their first name. Also, please remember if you are discussing the city someone lives in, that many people want this kept private as well.

Err on the side of caution in this regard. Many of us hold our privacy dear.

Not to mention that to post another person's private information, even their first name, is against the rules and will get your post edited. :)

Its crucial to respect the privacy of others, allowing them to make their own decisions and not imposing your standard for disclosure onto anyone else.

And if there's a post somewhere containing personal info, please please either 1) PM me, or 2) hit the "Report This Post" link at the bottom of the post. We'll take care of it asap. :)

But EVERYONE knows your name is tweety, right?

Privacy manifests itself in small details. Not all breaches are gaping holes. Respect those around you.

What about violating someone's privacy and posting their real name? Is that okay? Just to be clear.

Did you just ask this or is your keyboard up late coming up with ideas about you because it lusts for AJ's spew on it?

NO! It is not okay....

Unless I assume that person uses their name openly, as in my case.

It is still only respectful, therefor important that you ask them if they feel comfortable being adressed by it on the board by others before you use it, yourself.

The best thing to do in that situation is just use their user name, even if they sign it with their "real" first name. Why? CYA, baby. CYA.

What is CYA?

Okay, how about a pic of someone, fully clothed, but standing in front of their house, with the street and city address superimposed over the photo. How about that? Cause I got three or four of those.

Cover Your Ass.

Go ahead Dix, my real name is Janet. Last name spelled R-e-n-o. :) I lived in DC for a while, but I'm hanging out in Florida.

If you use them then we'll never license you to write the made for TV movie, "Reno Starr: An American Love Story."
