Important question about Phantom of the Opera

Okay -- the economy is in a shambles. We are facing a watershed Presidential election, possibly one that will reverse what Reagan did to this country.

But let's get to what is really important. I was watching the 2004 movie Phantom of the Opera on a plane flight recently (actually on two flights). The end of act 1 -- where the Phantom kidnaps Christine and they sing first Phantom, then Music of the Night -- is probably the most glorious moment in musical theater. But -- this it the really important thing -- is Christine (Emmy Rossum) actually bare assed throughout this scene?

I have been unable to find any information on this crucial topic -- but I am sure that if there is a place where the answer might by obtained, it would be on this forum.

I think the official script/wardrobe called for a flesh colored micro-thong, but you know how these artsy types love to improvise.

I've told this tale before, but...

since you brought up Phantom and no panties...

Many years ago, the wife and I took a holiday in Venice. There is a particular hotel we use in Venice, tiny cramed rooms but it has a restaurant on the canalside, with hotel guest discount. We were eating there, and discussing whether we should take a night-time canal cruise. There was a family, older couple and their grown up daughter on the adjoining table. As we got up to leave, the girl said: 'Excuse me, I couldn't help overhearing but we're thinking of taking a gondolla, why don't we get one between us?'

They turned out to be Australian. The girl was a singer, and they were in Europe because she was taking over the lead in Phantom of the Opera in Paris. In the gondolla, she had the musician (can't remember if it was a guitar or violin) play tunes from Phantom while she sung the songs. This was a magical experience, her wonderful voice echoing through the canals, bridges lined with people listening to her singing. It would have been truly memorable without this...

As we headed toward the Venice Opera House, a maze of canals merge, with tight corners, our singer fell silent and we drifted in perfect silence in the dary, rounding a corner where a pathway stopped at the canals edge, and there were two young ladies, legs parted, peeing into the canal. There is not much you can do mid-pee... it's kind of obvious what's going on when the passengers in the gondolla are at ankle height. Shock turned to laughter, from them and us.

I can't think of Phantom of the Opera without recalling this memorable night.

In Germany there's a famous play where both get naked (and more happens) at this scene. But it's staged in the Red Light District of Hamburg and allowed at age 18 or older, and I'm sure Webber wouldn't approve :D
I've not seen it myself, but in our newspaper was quiet a storm when they started with it a few years ago :)

I have been reading the stage notes in the play and I cannot seem to find a section that speaks of her getting completely undressed.

This is in the movie -- and she's not undressed. She's wearing stockings and a white lacy dress cum nightgown. The question is, is she wearing anything else? The are flashes of bare leg, bare thigh, bare ass, and one, when she is getting out of the boat, where her crotch is totally revealed, except for some shadows (legs together, though).

Why do I know this? This isn't a hell of a lot to do on an 8 hour flight from Tanzania, and the personal entertainment system had convenient rewind and stop action features. Of course, it was a tiny little screen, resolution was bad, and I haven't had the opportunity to get the dvd out of the library.
