Impeached President Trump gets his ass handed to him by scientist re: Coronavirus

This time, it's difficult to even find humor in the situation. Having this man at the helm while facing this difficult and complex crisis is just not a funny situation.

Trump treats the coronavirus as a public relationships problem, not a public health problem.

I wonder what 'good optics' PR stunt we'll see today?

Your self deception has risen to the level of pathological.

a scientist attempting to keep trump's lies to a minimum, actually speaking out directly to contradict him... man, how long before someone tries to replace him?

trump claims 3-4 months, outside unlikely number a year... scientist states at least a year to a year and a half for a usable vaccine. trump must be fuming it might hit his electionability. might even give the go-ahead to vaccines not thoroughly tested?

I don't think the president has the authority to release an untested vaccine. Pretty sure any attempt at that would be met with some pretty fierce opposition from everyone.

Better do a bit of reading on the swine flu vaccine, in 1976 or '77.
The testing, was done on the peasants.

Who else ya gonna test on? Strap em down and shoot em up and see what happens.
Being peasants they don't have much to live for anyway.

Bad news for ya Buzz.....the government, considers you, a mere peasant.

So, when they, with the help of the media, cause a panic, many will volunteer....like they did for the swine flu vaccine. They saw what happens afterward alright.

I thought the problem was the vaccine went out untested, and some people died, and their deaths were attributed to the vaccine.

Someone should fuck with him and say someone at Mar-a-Lago is running a fever.

It was more a case where it was poorly tested, and rushed out.
Some died, although they claimed it was just a coincidence. More were paralyzed, which was undeniable.
And the insurance companies, said at the onset, we will not cover problems from the vaccine. Seems they knew it was rushed.

Yah could be that too, I was too busy getting laid in 76 to worry about swine flu. Maybe if it was called "pussy flu" I might have paid attention...

What seems absent, is anyone in the news talking about it. Not a peep.
It is relevant, or at least, may become relevant.

Same is true with looking at numbers. Why not compare known numbers of the flu, to coronavirus? Or even the common cold. I had a neighbor who died from a common cold in the 90's.
It's relevant.
Looking to blame the orange guy.......not relevant, and is nothing more than politics, and fear mongering, and serves none of us.

The orange guy is just such a dick about everything.
You can't believe a word he says and he spouts off when he knows nothing of the topic...he should stick to ripping contractors off

Trump's habit of winging it, or relying on hyperbole, or inventing "friends" or unnamed experts to bolster his views, or just plain bullshitting is one thing when he's puffing himself up or passing along falsities such as claiming he had massive inauguration crowds.

It's a different matter when it comes to disease. Even people who usually like Trump realize he's not a remotely reliable or accurate commentator when it comes to anything serious, let alone issues relating to public health. You can't just run your mouth, or keep repeating the same discredited information, or make the problem go away with happy words, when people are getting sick. The virus doesn't care about your spin.

I agree to a point. I posted such in another thread on this. It is past time arguing about who did what when and where. Time to get on with dealing with the virus.

Because it isnt relevant. Why do you ask? We have 10 people in a room...we add one person who has the normal flu. What is the likelihood someone gets it? Depends on the time exposed...but let's say 20 minutes. Maybe, one...but the likelihood of transmission is somewhere around 1:20.

Repeat the same experiment with the coronavirus. Transmission rate increases to 1:5.

Can you do the math? Or do I have to come back and give you the answer? By the way...transmission rates are easily obtainable if you wanted them. Morons.

Sorry.
It's relevant. Is comparing a new virus or existing or past virus's not allowed, and NOT relevant? It is to me. It is to a lot of people.
History, is always relevant.

Now, if you don't care, then don't pay attention to any of that.....shall we say......dribble.

then if thousands and thousands and thousands have died in america from 'regular flu' and the transmission rate AND death rates (to date) are both higher for covid-19, then your comparison of flu to covid-19 should show this novel virus is, statistically, worse.

this is a novel coronavirus and there's still a lot to learn about it. but, as of now, there is no available vaccine as might be employed in the regular flu seasons.

so you want the news services to start broadcasting the stats of flu-death this season and then tell people this novel virus is looking to be worse--even though exact rates cannot be truly established thus far? and then you'd not say the media is trying to worry people?
