Be careful what you wish for...

“By choosing Governor Mike Pence as his running mate, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump has sent a very clear message to America’s seniors that their priorities will hold little weight in a Trump administration. During his decade-plus tenure in the U.S. Congress, Mike Pence consistently voted in favor of legislative efforts to cut benefits in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. He has a long history of blaming earned benefit programs for America’s economic woes and supporting middle-class benefit cuts to protect tax cuts for the wealthy. Few members of Congress have an anti-seniors voting record as consistently strong as Mike Pence.

Mike Pence was one of Congress’ biggest proponents of privatization. He supports cutting Social Security benefits by raising the retirement age, reducing the COLA, means-testing and turning Medicare into “CouponCare.” As he told CNN, ‘I’m an all of the above guy. I think we need to look at everything that’s on the menu,’ and the record shows he has done just that by supporting every form of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefit cut proposed in the past decade.

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare scored Mike Pence at 0% on issues important to seniors during the 2011-2012 Congress since he voted for multiple pieces of legislation that would cut benefits and programs that protect senior’s health and financial security.”...Max Richtman, NCPSSM President/CEO

If the Democrats want to regain power best have some incompetent lunatic fringe job in as POTUS for now. A GoP insider who has the right wing establishment behind him would be much harder to displace. We should all wish the orange idiot the best of health. For the next four years anyways.

Stop fixating on Trump. He is the fake warp signature that lures your patrols away while the Romulans sneak through the neutral zone. He is damn near irrelevant. Well as irrelevant as a POTUS can be.

Just a friendly reminder to my friends on the Left that actions, like elections, have consequences.

Pence is a Neanderthal in many ways, but at least he's an experienced, knowledgeable pol, and not crazy-stupid like Donald. I would much rather have him in the OO.

No way! His conservative social agenda would be hell on American society. And he would be able maybe to get 8 years in. And no guarantee his successor won't do as well. Better the fool you know!

Pence would be better for Canada. But I'm willing to for go some of that to help save America from becoming a RW theocracy. Going on principles here.

Well, I don't know about that. Pence would be almost as good as Trump at whipping up anti-Pub reaction in the 2018 midterms, and no way would he stand a chance at re-election in 2020.

I disagree. In fact he could bring more Reps back. Trump was not that palatable to many Republicans. Bleeding heart liberals would have more to say about Pence perhaps. But they don't make up that big a block of voters.

100 million Yanks call them evangelical Christians. Policies and statements geared specifically for them could get many out to vote. Don't forget churches are about to gain political power in the US.
