short version: evidently, the prospect of competition brings out the best in men's sper. long version here.

commentary: i haven't been around much lately, i know, but i just found this story and of course, thought of this place and the loving wives story category. :>

anybody have any thoughts on the matter?

Don't look at porn too often, since you can habituate.

When you do look at porn, the more explicit, the better.

Seems to be a bit of a mixed blessing, eh?

So, if seeing "studly" men improve fertility...

If you want to be super fertile, watch hardcore gay male porn?

:D

I haven't been trout smacked in a while. It's nice to feel the familiar sting, and smell the dead fish.

That was interesting. It also contradicted something else I heard: drinking coffee reduces sperm count.

It also made me wonder how long a cell phone would need to be worn before the reduced effect became noticeable. I'm kind of assuming said cell phone needed to be on as well, since there was no mention of that in the article. I'm one that wears it on my hip, but at work the reception is so poor the damn thing runs the battery down by constantly searching for a signal so I turn it off. All told, it's turned on for perhaps 15 minutes before and after work before I take it off. On weekends, if I go somewhere, I take it with me and leave it on.

I believe the key might be by what they meant by "moderate" since I had also heard that smoking and high caffeine intake lowered counts.

cigarette smoking also is implicated in erectile dysfunction, IIRC.

re: mobile phones, i always wear mine on my hip. much easier than stashing it in a pocket, IMHO.

Most of the time, men aren't really interested in being fertile, are they? I mean, unless it's those the time periods when they and their SO's are actively trying to get pregnant, it's all about preventing fertilization...

o, you're right, in general we aren't particularly interested in being alpha-fertile outside of those times...but useful to know for those who are or are just so competitive that they do their thinking down there anyway. :>
