How do I link/post an image off of my hard drive? Do I have to set up a web site to do it?

To use the vB IMG tags to link an image, the image must be accessible to the web -- i.e. have a web based URL.

If the image is smaller than 800x600 pixels and smaller than 100Kb, you can upload it here as an an attachment -- although it won't display automatically.

You can use the HTML "IMG SRC= " syntax to link an attached image to your signature line if that's your ultimate goal.

Thanks, I think. I don't know if I quite understand that. So if I have a picture on my hard drive that I have taken and want to let the board view, I need to make it small to attach using that code?

I have 8 web sites available to me from my ISP. Can I create one that is accessible to download from and not have people be able to trace me any further than that particular web site?

The simplest thing to do is attach them in a thread on the amatuer pictures formum -- one per post -- using the attach function just below the text box in the reply or newpost form. Click on the Browse button and find the picture you want to upload.

PS: you only need to "make them small" if they're too big to attach -- 800x600 is a pretty big picture; bigger than most digital cameras produce.

You'd be better off finding a site that allows anonymous hosting -- the 8 webpages available from your ISP are linked to your real name and ISP account. There is also the problem of whether your ISP allows hotlinking from your personal webpage -- many don't allow hotlinking, or "adult" pictures. That's also true for anonymous hosting sites like angelfire and others.

Making your own webpage for your pictures is probably the best way to insure the pictures are presented the way you want them, but I'd suggest providing a link in your signature or throughthe WWW button rather than hotlinking the pictures to posts.

That didn't work...
