Mum called, wanting to know if I was allright. She was worried about me, since I hadn't called her.

It's her birthday today.

I feel awful. Her old school pal remembered her birthday, but her own daughter didn't.

If you still want to talk to me, I'll be inside this deep hole in the ground until January...:( :(

Don't beat yourself up Svenska. You are not the only one who has forgotten a birthday. I've done it too.

Cheer up,

My family supplied me with a pile of "sorry, I forgot your birthday" cards, but I can't remember where I put them.

Ohh Svenska, she will not mind it. Just cuddle up to her all of next week. Or the equivalent of long-distance cudding.

This is from a person whos birthdays are forgotten... and who loves the 'special' treatment afterwards.

:)

We had already arranged to meet for Friday, I had to tell her what gift she was getting in advance, because we had to pick a day for her to get it.

I'm buying her a Weight Watcher-course.

I'm just so messed up with days and dates righ now. I could have sworn today was Wednesday the 23rd.

2004.

Don't sweat it, I almost never remember things like that. Only when someone calls and says "Hey, are you free on thursday for some birthday cake at my place?".

I did actually call mom and wish her a happy birthday this year. Her reply was "What? It's my birthday?"

M told me about the time when her mother-in-law called her to congratulate her and her husband on their 1-year-anniversary.

"Anniversary?" M said. "Honey, it's our anniversary today!"

"It is?" he replied.

They're not the most romantic couple in the world, no...

The main reason why guys marry

Not love. Not money. Not looks.

So that they can blame their wives for forgetting his family's birthdays.

Gauche (who's wife has a phenomenal memory)

I don't remember anyone's birthday. Not even mine.

Excuse me, please, this is an experiment, I'm fiddling around with getting an image into my sig line.

I've done that before with friends and family. It's such a horrible, sickening feeling when you finally do remember.

But your mom knows you love her and she probably knows how bad you feel. The good thing about family is that they forgive you for stuff.

I feel like such a piker! :(

I just logged the "important" days into Memo To Me and let a computer remind me a one week, and then one day before. ;)

I've about given up on my parents, really. Mom hasn't been speaking to me since the summer of 2002 after I told her exactly what her children think of her abusive alcoholic shit of a brother. Dad skips out on family events such as weddings and funerals to go to his Civil War re-enactments and hardly ever remembers his grandkids on their birthdays.

Quasi, handy thing there. For those who needs it. Personally, I'm my own, Ice's, mom's and my brother's personal Memo To Me. It's eerie, the amount of dates that is stored in my head at any given time. Sometimes I think I'm Rain Man.

Cute Perdita! I liked it, baa, baa black sheep have you any wool...

You know, Birthday only happens once. That is it you are not being born every year. So why bother trying to add up every year, like it is a Lit story rating? I will never understand. I call my mom at least once a month! Of course she lives in the same town that is the least I can do.

Everyone forgets birthdays! And anniversaries and all sorts of other important dates... Though these days, I think my mother would love it if *she* could forget her birthday.

Speaking of birthdays...I'd almost forgotten my sister's, which is on Saturday. *mutters* Thank goodness for the internet! *wanders off to find her something online*

My father forgot his own birthday once my mother died.

Even in his retirement home he usually remembered everyone else's including his great-grandchildren which was amazing because he didn't know where he was or whether he had eaten breakfast or not. That's a great way to get TWO breakfasts. Giving him two breakfasts was easier than trying to persuade him that he had eaten one. The staff didn't mind.

He was walking between 7 to 10 miles on a normal day and up to 20 when he felt energetic. He was 96. The problem was that he didn't remember where he lived and when he got tired he would forget where he'd walked from. I'd get a phone call saying "I think we have your father here" and I'd climb in the car to fetch him.

He remembered my birthdays. He didn't remember my name or face. He would ask me to post a birthday card to his son (me).

He remained a gentleman. Despite his age he would always stand when a lady entered the room even if she was the cleaner who wanted to vacuum his room. He decided that if ladies objected to having doors opened for them, or chairs positioned for them at tables, he would open doors and move chairs for men AND women.

I miss him.

Sorry for disapearing on you, P, I fell asleep at 3am, and couldn't be more helpful. You seem to have managed on your own, though. You go, girl!

What happened to the Swedish? Did the cloning think it not fit? Oops.

p.s. I'm so glad this is your thread.

Leave the American out. How about "Aztec-Swedish"?

That is me all year round. If people don't remind me they can't expect me to remember. I miss my own birthday often enough that they have learned to speak up. :)
