Hey Rik, being lonely sucks! 
But, if I may, it's not wrong to feel desperate, especially if you're under desperate circumstances, but it's not something you want to put forward as reason to talk to you. Best case scenario you'll find someone who'll want to chat out of pity, but that's awkward ground to start on.
Tell people what makes you interesting to talk to, or an interesting thing you'd like to talk about, and I think it might go much better for you.
