... as a dog.

I don't breathe, I wheeze.
My friends and family have urged me to go to a doctor's office for about a month now. I, however, in my infinite wisdom, waited until the day that stepping out of bed made me dizzy because I couldn't get enough air in my head.

A couple hacking, phlegmy coughs later I cleared my lungs enough to get on the telephone, call out sick and get an appointment for tomorrow afternoon.

Why do I do this? I always put off going to the doctor's until I'm seriously sick. I know part of it is that I'm always 'sick' - after so many years of being ill, you accept it as being natural. Nevertheless, I saw this coming at least a week and a half ago. I'm not afraid of doctors; I'm not trying to prove I'm tough; I just don't want another 'thing' added to my list.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Flies and rats,
The raw and the rust,
The ashes and the dust.

yes i do.!

And some of the stuff going around out can kill your ass.!!

I will tell you what helped me a lot. i went from going to see the doctor six to ten times a year with whatever was going around to maybe one or two times a year. How.? you might ask.? A RN told me to drink a six oz. glass of orange juice every day and take something like centrum silver.

And it worked.!! My immune system has never been very good
and i smoke, I don't get enough sleep; also i don't eat right. Take care of your body and it will take care of you.!

"Yes. Bad, Never - Bad!"

Um, well, thank you..
That wasn't quite what I was looking for but I agree. You tell her Laurel! Bad, bad, Never.

fgarvb, I take care of my body but as soon as I get sick it ends up in my lungs. I've been taking some vitamins and calcium pills but the New England weather is killing me. There's a foot of snow out there right now and my work place has about a hundred fifty people crammed together so bugs are common place.

That's what does it to me. I almost always get sick after riding in airplanes or on trains. I sit in my seat & listen to people cough & sneeze, and wonder what germ I'm gonna pick up this time.

I still blame you, though. Bad, Never - Bad!

I knew all that power would do to her head.
It's not my fault, I tell you. I'm an innocent Never - I was framed...

By, ah... Hmmmm.
Well, if you find the hood that framed me you'll find the real culprit.
*cough, cough* *sneezes in Laurel's general direction*

It was only a matter of time.

Yeah! And monkeys fly out of my butt! Innocent of what exactly?

*cough, cough* *sneezes in Laurel's general direction*

Eww!! *wipes Neversnot off her cheek.*

Neversnot?

*Thinking really, really hard. So hard that the fleas start getting hot feet and leaping to their dooms!*

... Neversnot... Does that come in a bottle?

Is it hot in here or am I just sweating? Bwahahaha!!!

Laurel:
"Yeah! And monkeys fly out of my butt!"

Wow. Just, wow.
Can you teach me to do that?

Just an update.
I have pneumonia in both lungs (they can't tell if it's viral or bacterial yet, what's up with that?) and my doctor told me I couldn't go into work until the 12th. (Which means you'll be seeing way too much of me.)

The funny thing is, I didn't really think I was sick. (Well, maybe a little cold) I called out of work because I wanted a day off - then my mother got me an appointment with the doctor and a couple of chest X-rays later the nurse prac. was wondering if she should check me into the hospital.

Odd how those things work out. I feel good though - I even feel better now that I know I get a week off from work. *Flapping 'certificate to return to work' frantically in the air*

Damn, what am I going to do with all this time?

I'm sorry...

I feel for you sweetie...I have had a stinkin' head cold now for a week...its killin' me!! And I'm a wimp, I never get sick...I can't handle it very well!!!

I do hope you get better really fast!!!

Thanks Lil-B. I hope you start to feel better soon.

That's the thing though.. I don't feel bad at all.
I mean, wouldn't an infection in your lungs spread out to your other systems and make you 'ill'?

Other than a low oxygen count in my bloodstream and some shortness of breath I look and feel fine. The mucus I'm coughing up hasn't even changed colors.

Sunday I was bragging about being the only person in my row who wasn't ill. The nurse told me I've probably had this for several weeks now, how is this possible?

get better Never...hey there is a girl in my town that i picture as being you...i know it isn't but she is like i picture you...just thought i would tell you that

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? :)
Does she look like me or act like me?

I don't know whether to make you some hot tea and wrap you in a warm blanket or tie you to the bed and tickle you!!!! I know 2 people who just got out of the hospital after spending a week each going through breathing treatments and a serious combination of meds. and they just had a "little cold" turned pneumonia. I am sending you warm cuddly thoughts and hope your lungs heal quickly.

As far as not wanting to add another "thing" to your list...I know how you feel....well it's my son's list but I still know. He was born with a Hyatial Hernia...surgery....a Hypospadius.....surgery...Bronchitis twice a year...ADHD...(so they said).....OCD...(mild getting worse)...and the latest is a trip to the neurologist in a month to start treatment for Tourettes.

and he is the sweetest little boy I have ever seen.

well for one thing...i have no idea what you look like... okay let me describe her
she is about 5'5" dark hair...she is pretty and you can see a little tomboy in her...she dresses in dark colors...she smiles and is pleasant...just seems a little shy...am i close in what you look like?

Its called self depricating humor... Do I really have to explain every thing?

That and its a reference to the ogres in Piers Anthony's Xanth novels...

Honestly, some people just can't apreciate humor...

I'm already wearing my robe over my pants and sweatshirt - I have the hot orange tea. I guess it should be the latter. :)
Getting pneumonia is an annual event for me which means, barring an accident, that's probably how I'll die someday. I think that the casual way I react to knowing that promoted the doctor's response more than the actual extent of my illness. The medicine they've given me is knocking me out though and I can't stand the attention. (Yet paradoxally (sp?), I posted about being sick)
Thank you for the warm cuddlies, I can never get enough of those.

no no Never..you say....here is a pic of me rosebud...is this what you thought???

Ohhhh.
Sorry, no pictures. They steal your soul.
Well, I could always scan my high school yearbook but not even I deserve that sort of image.

Yes, she sounds sort of what I'm like.

yes pictures steal your soul but the soul becomes property of the person with the pic....you would get that back i swear...

But.. but..
I spent all day sleeping - and I'm not that tired. There's nothing I hate more than laying in bed all day when I'm sick.
I woke up at 11:00am and I typically wont get to sleep until 4am... And, my parents are doing each other right now - if I take off my headsets and go to bed I'll have to listen to them.
