and I hate it.

My god, why can't the house I want be available at the price I want?

I have found probably 300 houses in our price range.. but the freaking neighborhood sucks.. or there isn't enough bathrooms.. or the garage isn't big enough....or it's to far from work or in my case.. school.

Why can't someone build my house the way I want it for the amount of money I want to spend??? And no.. building is not an option.. the only properties I can find are all in flood zones..

I will NOT live with my mother for the rest of my life!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone is going to die.. :) And it won't be me if I'm forced to stay here any longer..

Don't become frustrated and 'settle' for something. Keep looking you will find it, it is out there waiting for you.

It took us a long time to find ours, but we did.

Your picked a great time to look, interest rates are way down.

Good luck.

Been there ..done that!

Hi freakygurl32

sch00lteacher is right.. it took me over 2yrs to find my home.
There's going to be lots of - nice location but not the right price, kitchen is great, shame about the bathroom & bedrooms, school is only a walk away but allll that renovating.. blah blah blah.
As for the flood zone thingy, my current home is classed as in flood zone, but I actually went & spoke with the owners & neighbours..yes the road flooded but no water ever got into the house.. it flooded this past winter & they didnt lie!
The other thing I did when house hunting, I took a pen & paper with me & noted the things I did & didnt like in houses so as I knew what to look for in the next one.
Good luck...happy house hunting!

If the only lots availabe are in a flood plain, the consider designing a "flood proof" home and being your own contractor.

(You can order the tapes from "HomeTime" on The Learning Channel. I think it's a five tape set that covers every aspect of building your own home.)

If building truly isn't an option, make a prioritized list of the things you want and/or the things you absolutely can't live with. If a home meets 80-90% of your top requirements, consider settling for doing without the little things that aren't as important to you.

i.e Access to the garage/backdoor is through the kitchen should be a deal killer. (If you've never lived in a home that is laid out this way, you don't know how unhappy something little can make a house seem.)

Don't limit yourself to a certain size/number of rooms. Sometimes an older four bedroom will meet your needs for a threee bedroom cheaper than any three bedroom homes you might find in the area.

We've bought 3 houses. Two new, one 30 years old.

I don't know if I'll ever buy an old house again. The one we had was such a fucking money pit. Plus, looking at other people's houses depresses me. Going to model homes? I like that. :)

Good luck, hon.

model homes scare me. they're so damn perfect. *shudders*

I think we might have found one.

So far it sounds to good to be true. Ofcourse we all know how the owners are going to tell you all the good things.. and forget to mention the bad things.

The house we are looking at is on 1 and half lots.. totally fenced yard.. new roof.. new foundation...all new wiring.. new siding.. "some" remodeling inside.. (this worries me *L*).. but it only has 1 bathroom.. that just isn't even doable.. we would need another bathroom (remember we have 8 kids every other weekend and most of the summer) and there is NO garage..we need a garage.. have to much stuff to store.

We are going to go look at it on Thursday. I'm not jumping into the first home I find. I'm going to get what I'm going to be happy in.

As far as my mom and I are concerned.. TODAY we are getting along fine.. tomorrow may be a different story. I seriously can't handle her mood swings.. and her "need for more money".. shit.. that is a whole other thread.. *L* nevermind

Thanks for the advice guys..

Sounds like more bathrooms and a garage might be more of a priority than remodling, etc. Good luck! :)
