I'm doing my first story and have finished my first chapter, could someone give me some feedback.

Turn on Private Messages.

* To switch on your Private Messages, go to User CP (top left of this page), click on Edit Options (in the left hand column), and then tick Enable Private Messaging in the second box down. Make sure that the box titled Receive Private Messages only from Buddies and Moderators is NOT ticked. Finally, click Save Changes at the bottom of that page.

Also, it will help if you give some information about your story, such as how many words it is as well as the genre.

Messages are now turned on

My story is about some risky fun I had with my ex, sort of an enf/exhibitionism type of thing. The bit I've done is around 450 words but I'm not sure how long I'll make the actual story.

There's an audience for all lengths. The general consensus is 3 Lit pages (8000 - 10k words) is the sweet spot but don't get too hung up on that. Make the story as long as you need to tell it.

450 is just a taster. :)

It's also less than the 750-word story minimum for LIT submissions. (Poetry can be shorter.) Try to hit at least 750 words but don't expect a great response. A browser LIT page is about 3700-3750 words and one-pagers are too often seen as disappointingly short.

Brevity may be the soul of wit but it's poison on LIT. A workaround: write a few short pieces and gather them into one submission, hopefully with a framing device to pull them together thematically as I did with A Taste of Incest: Spirits.
