When you double your money (or hit a jackpot), Quit!

Decide how much you're going to lose, and stop when you do.

If you go home with a quarter more than you started with, You're a winner -- the amount doesn't matter all that much, just winning.

Plan to lose $10 and then win $8 back.

But like Harold said, if you DO hit a big jackpot, quit then!

You can find other things to spend your money on. The chances of hitting a big jackpot or small enough, the chances of hittinig two of them are almost nill.

Harold's advice is good.

My addenda:

Slots have AWFUL odds, but if you're looking on the cash as the cost of entertainment it probably lasts longest there.

Learn to play blackjack, and try to get at a table with fewer rather than more decks, and always play each hand starting with the minimum bet... you get a chance to double if you want to.

Split Aces and 8s (Blackjack rule.)

Have fun, and if you start feeling tired it's time to stop and either go or at least take a break.

Judging by your new Av, I would say you are not old enough.

Don't be disappointed.

Wierd Harold is right, Luscious, quit when you're up, even just a little.
I have two days of horse racing here in our little village which fills up with famous French actors I've never heard of.
Eleven years ago I was in a wheel chair and waited in a queue to place a bet - I chose the shorted queue and discovered it was short because it was bets in multiples of $15, roughly. Big money for me - any way my forecast won and I rolled away with about $200.
So euphoric was I that I celebrated wildly, bought my kids t-shirts, all five of them - and broke the spokes of my wheel chair on the rough terrain of the racetrack. This all cost me just over $200.

So the other lesson here is that when you do win, don't count on it lasting too long. Gambling winnings, I find, are spent many times over within the first few hours of triumph.

Good Luck.

Machines will hit a peak, then drop...don't get sucked in on the down slope...

Yes - set a limit and don't go over it no matter what.

Otherwise - have fun and I hope you win!

I love slots...I love Vegas...now all I need is $$$$!!!!:D

I went to Vegas when I was 18...I've wanted to go back ever since. Maybe I'm part insect...I am just a sucker for bright blinking lights ;)

I always walk around donating into different machines when I play slots. Other people stay with one machine until they beat it into submission.

The biggest jackpot I ever won was $1300 on a dollar machine, that was pretty cool :)

Have a budget and have fun! Good luck.

Yeah. Slots are for suckers. Though I guess if you find cheap ones, you can get more gambling time in per dollar.

Even if you don't know roulette or blackjack or craps, if you don't play too risky and don't try anything fancy, you can do decently.

And I've never heard of splitting 8's in blackjack . . . but splitting aces are a must. Always double down on 11's, too.

Horses are for suckers, too, Luscious. I'm 25 euros down today, not a win, not even a place. Hope you do better. I expect to win it all back tomorrow.
