I may be some time.

If I should return, think better of me.

If I don't make it back, tell my non-existent wife that I love her. And Yui that I fancy the knickers off her.

There is no spoon.

And other such assorted quotes. I've done this a thousand times on other people's machines, but strangely enough never on my own. And not for a good 15 months.

Wish me luck.

Brave, lunatic boy.
Braver man than I, Gungha Din.

Good luck, see you back here as soon as.

"You're a braver man than I Gunga Din."

In a perfect world, it wouldn't be that hard. But "they" (Michael Dell & Bill Gates) want you to simply replace your computer, not upgrade it.

I read the other day that an enormous amount of users get so infested with spyware, virus et al, that they just replace their PC's. Not exactly the kind of thing the manfacturers of hardware and Operating Systems here that makes them want to combat spyware & virus.

Hope we here from you again.

Danger, Earl Robinson

Just be careful that you don't inadvertently convert your hard drive into a permanent floppy. Be afraid...be very afraid!

He's back! Faster than ever and twice as reliable!

What did you do to it?

I bought it second-hand and thus have had to deal with failing and cheap components. Stripped it and replaced motherboard, processor and RAM. Most importantly, this has got rid of the horrible temperamental Asrock piece of shit motherboard that I was burdened with and replaced it with a shiny fast Asus one.

Although I am thoroughly peeved at so far still not being able to play Civilisation IV! Damned graphics.

I'm not familiar with that game or what it requires, but decent graphics cards are fairly cheap if your motherboard is capable of running them. :)

Define fairly cheap to a student who's just spent £180 on computer bits?

Sorry, I mean innards.

Yeah, I know, they're only 30-odd quid, but it's thirty-odd quid that I'd rather not spend. I am a tightwad in the finest sense of the word. Except when it comes to extravagances and gift-buying, in which case all my money can be spent.

Nice to see you got it done and quickly too.

I'm looking around for some old or older computers to strip and make one half decent computer. (No not for me.) You would think that with all the damage from Wilma there would be an overload of computers in the dumpsters but there isn't. I guess the next step is to call my father and keep his eyes open up where he lives.

I have a Radeon going spare. Well, the ex does, as he bought a new graphics card and then someone bought him a mini-mac, so he wants rid *grin*. PM me the specs you need and I'll see if its any good?

I'm going to replace more of the innards of my computer now. Thanks for the offer J-L, but I'm so impatient, I actually resorted to buying the part from PC World.

Wish me luck.
