Should I bring snacks and something to read? I'm a little worried, because my precinct is rather large this year and voting is being held in a huge, suburban church. I bet it's going to be super crowded. I miss my old precinct, which was at a tiny KC Hall in my hometown and it was always like going to a potluck. ;) So, tell me what your polling place is like???

The ex reported a line of 15 when he stopped on his way to work this morning @ 7am. That, in this tiny little 'burb, is extraordinary.

I voted early. :)

I went to the local church. Five people in line, so I went across the street for a pack of smokes and a grande. Came back and the line was fifty. I had a couple of magazines with me and maybe stood in line for 45 minutes after the polls opened. I saw a local high school on the news when I got home and there were over 200 people. They said it's usually busy before work, during lunch, and at the last minute. Since you're still home, I would suggest 10 am.

Our place is small, but only a couple thousand vote there. There were about twenty or so people there when I was there. They put me on the long line when I should have been on the small line.

Woody Harelson filmed a movie there too, should be out next year.

We voted at 7:30am and for the very first time there was a line. But it moved fast. Of course we live in southern Pa, long lines and long waiting not a problem here.

See any Rednecks? :D
Clinging to their guns? :D

The kids had school off today for "voting day." (Why, I don't know, because we don't vote in the schools, we vote at the municipal offices, but whatever...) So hubbie and I switched off. I went first at 7am, didn't take a book or snacks, but waited about an hour and took about a minute to actually vote. It moved relatively fast, but there were probably 50-80 people in front of me, line was around the side of the building. I called yesterday, and asked how many registered voters our little township had. She told me about 9,000. The woman in front of me said she hadn't EVER waited in line for a presidential election in this township, and she hadn't seen lines like these since the 40's. So, good turnout!

I'm back already. There were about 6 people voting ahead of me, so I only had to wait about two minutes. The church ladies were handing out coffee and cookies. :D

I'm betting it's going to be the most crowded after 3pm when people start to get off work. We had early voting here and you couldn't even get a parking place at our dinky little town hall. I hope that's going to be an indication of an awesome voter turn out.

Kidlet had school today, but they're having a assembly about American history and a mock election. He made his own campaign button to wear. :D

Wow, fantastic turnout! I truly hope it's like that everywhere.

School's out here for election day, too. We're quite rural here, and the polling places are the gymnasiums of the elementary schools in many precincts, mine included. They consider it a safety issue, and I agree.

I voted early, waited about 3 minutes.

Since we ARE rural, the districts are large, and the polls small in terms of voting machines, pollworkers, etc. There's usually a line.

School's not out here. I'll vote when I get off work. We vote in a church and it's a small community and I've never had to wait in line.

Amy is going to pick me up later this am so that we can both go vote. She's not happy about me getting out of bed, but I AM NOT going to let Prop 8 win by one vote!

I was #14 in line. I estimate 100 were waiting to vote when I left. At 7am one kid was in line, when I left the same kid was in line. The black woman next door left early but didnt vote; she usually gets home late, so she likely wont vote. Psycho bitch nexct door doesnt vote (she's gay by the way). I expect Florida to go to McCain based on what I saw.

SAFE_BET

hahahaha I voted against your team on our constitutional amendments.

Has anyone run into last minute nuts trying to sway your vote? It was clear by my polling place, unlike during the primaries.

Hey, this is a general thread about polling, not a thread for hatemongering. Take it elsewhere.

Not this year, but during the primary, I was approached by some pro-life advocates outside the polling place. They weren't nuts, per se, but were rude and pushy and clearly in the wrong place.

Oh you DID vote, huh?

After all your talk about "I'm not voting for either of these idiots!?"

SELENA

Actually I voted straight Democrat except for one local office where the guy had no opposition (I wrote in my name). And I voted against the fags just because of STELLA and SAFE BET. It made me feel good and warm to hurt their cause a wee bit.

But Obama didnt give me a woodie. I assume he'll jump on his dick and Hillary will get the job in 2012.

Just got back.

Lines were minimal, and no problems with voting machine, but like others have posted, it's the best turnout for any election I've ever seen.
