Illustrated stories

When people vote on these, do they vote on the pictures as much as the writing/content? If they do include the pictures in their overall voting, how so? Quality of the pic? Relevance of the pic to the story? Whether or not they like the body depicted?

I mean, I guess it can be anything and I know you can't get into the head of every voter, but what do people think happens? What do you do? What kind of feedback have you gotten?

Also, what do you guys think of the category in general? Is it automatically less "literary" or does it depend on the content? Would you avoid an illustrated story on the "new" list, or jump on it, or base your decision on the title and description?

I'm not sure what I'm really on about here... just nervous about posting an illustrated story, I guess.

To be honest, the ones I have clicked on over the past 3-4 months were just stories that had nude pictures placed sporatically in the body of the text. I never felt like it added anything to the story itself. I guess it gave the guys something to stroke to while taking a quick break from their reading.

I don't believe I have read one illustrated story here at Lit that was made better because of the illustrations, or that the illustrations were an integral part of the story. I haven't read them all, so if anyone knows of one where the illustrations do add to the story itself, please post the link and I will re-evaluate my opinion.

I really don't get the idea of an Illustrated Story as a main category on Lit. And most of the stories, IMHO, don't even come close to the caliber of writing in many of the other categories. I wonder, then, if the "illustrations" serve as some sort of crutch that is needed to support the generally mediocre writing.

IMHO, the pictures are just the things which slow down the page loading and distract from the story. Doesn't help at all.

I look so stupid with my foot in my mouth. I think that would make for a good illustrated story right there.

Oh dear. The pics are going to be of me. I don't know which will be worse, getting hit on constantly or not getting hit on at all... well, as long as no one writes anything mean. I may put a little note at the end to that effect.

The pics won't necessarily be integral to the story, but the story will be about the photo shoot that created them, so it will be related. (They are all similar to my AV, which was taken that same night.)

I do plan to put as much effort into this one as my other stories, probably more, since it's for someone special. And yes, I will try to make it of interest to people who aren't him.

Are voters going to be overly dissapointed if the pics are not terribly explicit?

For some reason this category is causing me way more anxiety than the others. Weird.

The truth in pictures, and fiction stories...

If a picture speaks a thousand words, then why bother to write at all? Use three pictures, and you have a three thousand word story, right? I guess what I'm saying here is that pictures belong in Playboy, or Penthouse, and words belong in stories. Now if you're using a picture as say cover art for a story, then I don't think that's such a bad idea as it pulls at the reader's curiosity, and brings them in to read your story. But that's about as far as I'd go with illustrations for a story.

Heck no. One of my requirements was that the pics not be explicit. I--naively--thought that less explicit pics would give equally attention to my writing.

You are so going to get hit on. If that's not your thing, you might want to consider putting in a polite "I'm not available, don't bug me" kind of notice in your biography.

I've read your story already, KM... I liked it and I thought the pics were nice and tasteful and fit the story. Actually I flipped through most of them to see what the norm was.

All I really have are headless shots of me in underwear. I think my story could benefit from a masturbating pic, but those didn't turn out right so I'm not going to use them. Also I feel a bit weird having something like that out there for all to see. Then again, I might just take some additional pics... I don't know.

I'm freaking out way to much over a story I haven't even finished yet! I may finish it soon though, since I have so many final papers to procrastinate on

I feel like a goof now. I actually drew something in stupid msn paint. Then submitted it. A artist friend of mine did email me and ask if one of my daughters drew it lol. I didn't go the normal route everyone else does with pics here. (The wife wouldn't let me use her as a model.) Simply stated who the hell would want to see me naked anyway? 0 persons that's who.

Although I don't mind the ladies doing it and I must say KM I just read your story today before even venturing into the bb's and I thought it was tasteful and very well done. Yes, I did try and blow it up for a little more detail but alas blowing up the image just distorted it. But it did give you even bigger breasts.

Don't feel like a goof. You illustrated it, didn't you? There's no reason why all the stories have to have naked women in them. The Angler's Delight series doesn't. Nothing wrong with a little creativity.

Yes I illustrated the abomination. It does upon further review look like a kid drew it but I kinda like it lol. Although for the other illustrated ones I have to do I am submitting pictures I have taken. I do have a question though and this seems like as good place as any to ask. Is the illustrated poetry erotic or non-erotic or both?

I would prefer to not subject anyone to my freehand drawings ever again from mspaint. Pictures convey the ideas so much better anyway.

It's both. Interestingly enough, that poetry category gets waaaay more reads than the others (at least in my experience). I guess folks are hoping for erotic photos.
