All any of us have are opinions. Some are more useful and insightful than others, but they're only just thatL opinions. Aside frm the rules of spelling and grammar and punctuation, fiction doesn't have any immutable laws.
However, I've found that one of the best skills a writer can have is the ability to look at a story and figure out what does and doesn't work, and sometimes being forced to give your opinion and justify it makes you look more closely at a story and develop your analytical skills.
